The Opportunity:
Solvest is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. This position requires an individual who is dedicated, organized, and who demonstrates a high attention to detail with strong communication skills. This position is accountable for managing the estimating of commercial and utility scale solar projects, battery energy storage systems, and wind projects including the coordination of other team members, vendors, and subcontractors. This is a technical position, and we value candidates with a background in electrical engineering, renewable energy design, or construction estimation. The candidate best suited to this position will have the ability to efficiently and effectively manage a consistent and at times heavy workload, while thriving in a self-directed work environment.

Wage Range:
$85,000 - $140,000 per year based on experience + annual profit share based on company profitability

Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and complete accurate cost estimation for project proposals, tender/bid packages, RFQs, RFPs and pre-qualifications, including
Review project plans, specs, and proposals to prepare accurate and comprehensive bid estimates, ensuring all required information is included. Lead pricing the general expense and project-specific general requirements for medium to large projects (fixed rate and time/materials contracts).
Complete full quantity take-off of all labor, equipment, and materials for larger scopes. Review current material and construction equipment pricing and ensure bid validity and price escalation is addressed and meets project's needs.
Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications for large and complex projects to determine overall project requirements.
Participate in quote reviews with other technical design and/or sales staff to ensure the design meets all Code and non-Code related requirements, and that the design meets the client's requirements.
Establish a critical path schedule including milestone dates and completion timelines to meet contract completion dates.
Solicit and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining and expanding a qualified network database.
Ensure tender packages, scopes of work, and bid submissions are comprehensive and competitive.
Maintain an estimating database of history and costs.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
A Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification or Electrical Engineering diploma.
6+ years experience in construction estimation and/or electrical cost estimation on complex, large dollar projects.
Extensive experience working with spreadsheets (Google Sheets, Excel).
Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, technical bid requirements, and specifications.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Strong estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and cost management skills.
Strong attention to detail with practical and logical thinking.
Able to work accurately and effectively under pressure with hard deadline dates.
Must have strong interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and empower organization. In addition, must be a strong communicator and be able to take the initiative to function without day-to-day guidance.
Expert in understanding and teaching contract terms for various delivery models and able to identify contract risks and opportunity.
Preferred:
Previous working experience in solar, wind, or similar renewable energy systems with a strong knowledge of renewable energy regulations, codes, and industry standards.
AutoCAD skills and drafting experience is not required but beneficial.

Driver's license and minimum 3 years claims experience history.
