Job Description

JOB DUTIES:



Project Cost Estimation

: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. This includes new construction, renovations, and other project types.

Bid Preparation

: Lead the preparation of bid proposals, including pricing, project scope, and timelines. Ensure that bids are competitive, clear, and aligned with the client's requirements and project specifications.

Quantity Takeoffs

: Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs from project blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the required materials and labor for each phase of the construction process.

Risk Analysis & Contingency Planning

: Identify potential project risks, such as cost overruns, supply chain delays, or labor shortages. Develop strategies for mitigating these risks and incorporate contingency plans into the cost estimates.

Vendor & Subcontractor Management

: Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing, high-quality materials, and reliable service.

Cost Control & Budgeting

: Work closely with project managers to monitor project costs against the estimated budget throughout the project lifecycle. Provide insights and recommendations for maintaining cost control and addressing potential budget issues.

Market Analysis & Pricing Trends

: Keep up to date with current market conditions, including fluctuations in material costs, labor rates, and industry trends. Adjust estimates and bids accordingly to reflect these changes.

Collaboration with Project Teams

: Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of the project are properly accounted for in the estimates. Ensure alignment between design intent and budget constraints.

Review of Contract Documents

: Review project specifications, contracts, and other documents to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements and scope. Identify any ambiguities or discrepancies that could impact cost estimates.

Value Engineering

: Provide cost-saving alternatives and recommendations to enhance project efficiency without compromising quality. Identify areas where costs can be reduced while maintaining the integrity of the project design and scope.

Bid Presentations & Negotiations

: Present cost estimates and bid proposals to clients, negotiating contracts as necessary. Communicate clearly with clients to explain pricing, schedules, and scope adjustments.

Historical Data Analysis

: Use historical project data to develop more accurate cost estimates and refine estimating processes. Maintain and update a database of costs and benchmarks for future project reference.

Continuous Improvement

: Evaluate and improve the estimating process, including the use of software, tools, and techniques. Stay updated with new technologies and methods to improve accuracy and efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Be proficient in all computer software programs used in estimating with particular emphasis on estimating software. Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) Expertise in one or more areas of heavy civil Ability to breakdown construction operations into a logical sequence of activities Ability to work in a team environment Ability to professionally communicate the basis for individual work product when in a highly stressed environment Ability and willingness to abide by HKC's Construction's policies on a daily basis environment. Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done. Effective oral and written communication skills Must be willing to travel. Candidates must possess a strong work ethic. Strong organizational, interpersonal skills. Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:



Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Administration, or equivalent related work experience. Minimum of 15 or more years estimating or project experience on heavy civil projects Minimum of 10 or more years estimating experience
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
