to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. This role plays a critical part in the bidding and budgeting process, ensuring projects are financially viable and align with client expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze blueprints, drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Consult with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Prepare detailed and itemized cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work.
Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors and maintain a database of up-to-date pricing.
Conduct site visits to understand the scope and constraints of each project.
Prepare bid packages and assist in the preparation of tender submissions.
Monitor projects after bids are won to ensure cost control and identify variances.
Work closely with project managers, procurement, and finance teams to manage budgets.
Evaluate risks and prepare contingency plans in estimates.
Track and maintain historical data for cost analysis and future estimation accuracy.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry (minimum [X] years).
Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field preferred.
Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal regulations.
Proficient in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Buildertrend, CostX, Sage Estimating).
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with [insert any specialized type of construction, e.g., commercial high-rise, infrastructure, residential].
Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and digital takeoff tools.
Knowledge of local building codes and permit processes.
