The successful candidate will be working out of the 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa Ontario office for a minimum of 40% of the time to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. About The Role:

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Full-Time Senior Epidemiologist to join our Medical Affairs and Innovation Epidemiology & Surveillance Team. The work of an Epidemiologist is integral to Canadian Blood Services\' role as Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Lifeline. In this role, you will participate in the planning and designing of epidemiologic evaluations, providing advice and be responsible for data collection and management to support transfusion research activities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Plans and designs research projects.
  • Prepares and maintains standard research protocols.
  • Develops study materials (e.g., develop and test questionnaires).
  • Conducts statistical analysis and provides interpretation of epidemiologic studies.
  • Responsible for the supervision of Research Associates and Research Assistants.
  • Maintains affiliations to a university and assists with Departmental supervision of graduate students and participation in meetings.
  • Participates in the peer-review process by reviewing grants and manuscripts.
  • Compiles information regarding new issues in transfusion epidemiology to support research and ongoing operations and to develop areas of research.
  • Prepares written reports and manuscripts.
Education, Training and Experience:
  • PhD in Epidemiology or related field.
  • At least 6 years of related experience.
  • Experience in a public health or pharmaceutical setting is an asset.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Publications in scientific journals.
  • Sound technical skills in statistical and epidemiological software.
  • Must be an effective team player.
  • Strong time management skills are essential.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Excellent writing skills are essential.
