Don\'t miss this unique opportunity to be part of the team that produces these regulatory documents, which have an impact on the lives of all Canadians!The incumbent provides high-quality English technical editing and document production management services to the Codes Canada, Canadian Construction Materials Centre and National Master Construction Specification groups within the NRC\'s Construction Research Centre, thereby contributing to the enhancement of publications and to technology transfer in the Canadian construction industry. Publications include the National Model Codes, which form the basis of construction regulation nationwide. They also include technical guides and commentaries on the application of the National Model Codes, and some provincial codes.The incumbent is responsible for editing and managing the production of publications from draft English text to final files for publication, which involves ensuring that content is presented in a clear, logical fashion with a very high degree of accuracy, and in accordance with accepted standards of style, grammar and usage.This highly specialized position also involves the production management of multiple concurrent projects and the training, mentoring and supervision of at least two English editors. Document production management responsibilities include the analysis of deliverables, timelines and resources, problem-solving, collaborating with the French editorial and translation team, and liaising with internal and external clients, subject-matter experts and suppliers.The incumbent works within a team of editors, translators and IT specialists.Screening CriteriaApplicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter how they meet the education and experience factors listed on this poster in order to be given further consideration as candidates.   • Significant and recent experience (at least five years in the last ten) in editing technical or legal documents in English.
  • Experience (at least one year) in supervising, mentoring and training direct reports and in reviewing their written work.
  • Experience (at least one year) in all facets of document production, such as copy-editing, substantive editing, structural editing, writing or rewriting, graphics preparation, layout, proof checking, project management, translation coordination, and/or quality assurance .
  • Experience (at least one year) in publishing documents using tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, markup language (XML preferred) and/or a content management system.
