Reporting to the manager of Retube, Inspection and Maintenance Systems (RIMS) Design Engineering group, candidates will be highly motivated self-starters who can carry out tasks associated with MODAR, in particular, and retubing and/or field services, in general for CANDU nuclear power generating stations.

How will you contribute to the team?

For work in Sheridan Park, responsible for mechanical engineering related leadership on the MODAR program

in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Participate in the operational planning process for the MODAR program.
  • Tool design and tooling modifications (i.e.: engineering changes).
  • Review, approval application of P.Eng stamp on various mechanical assembly drawings, manufacturing drawings, and technical documents.
  • Review and disposition of design deviations and non-conformances against manufacturinz Drawings.
  • Responsible for managing the corrective action program (ProAct) for the work under their responsibility.
  • Taking leadership role in sub-assembly, tool build, tool qualification and MODAR system troubleshooting in SP3 laboratories.
  • Supervision of a large team for sub-assembly, tool build, tool qualification procedure and route sheet updates.
  • Planning, authoring and review of various technical documents including, but not limited to test plans, test reports, route sheets.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, and vendors for various technical aspects of the program (e.g.: tool build status, troubleshooting, outage readiness, etc.).
  • Responsible for estimating technical scope of work packages and responsible for cost and schedule delivery for scope under their purview.
  • Availability to work at Sheridan Park facility (in-person) to support laboratory work, testing and tool builds.
For work on-site, responsible for areas such as:
  • Interface with clients and contractors at site for coordination and execution of work activities.
  • Site lead for pre-outage site set-up, out-of-vault checks, trailer setup and tooling integrations checks.
  • Lead Analyst on crew for MODAR window in B2381.
  • Coordination of post-outage vault egress, equipment tear-down, decontamination, packing and return shipment to SP.
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable) \xe2\x80\x93
  • As a Senior engineer, provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers at lower grade levels and/or other technical employees.
  • Provides guidance on important technical matters.
What will you contribute?

Qualifications \xe2\x80\x93
  • Mechanical Engineer / Retube Tooling and Systems Engineer.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Solid Understanding of Engineering Drawing (General Assembly, Detailed, Assembly drawings, etc.).
  • Strong Understanding for Disposition of Dimensional Deviations.
  • Proficiency in Technical Writing (Test Plans, Reports, Procedures, Work Instructions, Troubleshooting Plans).
  • Strong aptitude in tooling and systems troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Preferably holds site access and security clearance to at least one of Bruce Power or Ontario Power Generation (OPG) sites.
Knowledge & skills \xe2\x80\x93
  • 10+ years experience in Nuclear industry in tool design, field services and/or re-tube projects.
  • Exposure to on-site work, shift schedules, day-night shift deployments.
  • Experience with simple and complex troubleshooting initiatives, related to sub-assemblies, tooling and systems (i.e.: electro-mechanical).
  • Experience with work planning, resourcing, leading a team through challenging, lengthy campaigns.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both oral and written) skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
  • Organizational and time management skills. Ability to prioritize and multi-task/ Service orientated.
  • High attention to detail, while also understanding the value for our customer in a project environment.
  • Comfortable and versed in client facing roles, can handle high level of customer oversight.
  • Strong presentation skills particularly with clients and contractors.
  • Willingness and aptitude to train / mentor junior personnel on the team.
  • Patient, calm and cool under pressure.
