We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer, Design and Development to support our Track and Structures team. You will be responsible for providing engineering expertise in support of track projects, condition surveys, defect assessments, as well as corrective and preventative maintenance.
What You Will Do
--------------------
Manage the development and review of new/existing track component designs.
Develop comprehensive testing programs; diagnosing complex engineering problems, and providing technical input for track related operating issues.
Coordinate the design and development of new track components. This involves:
+ Identifying design objectives, performing complex design calculations and providing detailed design specifications for the development of prototype track hardware components.
+ Developing and overseeing a comprehensive testing program and documenting compliance with design objectives.
+ Enforce quality assurance/quality control methods and practices.
+ Identify the need for external engineering resources along with procurement of resources. Review the design and performance of existing track components. This involves:
+ Investigating problems and failures associated with existing track components.
+ Coordinating testing to evaluate materials and products and provide defect analysis.
+ Create and maintain technical specifications for the supply of materials and services. Develop comprehensive SOGR program working with Track Maintenance and Capital Project Delivery group.
Develop maintenance standards and procedures.
Provide technical input for track related operating issues.
Supervise the work of subordinate staff, including developing annual goals and ensuing project objectives are clearly defined and documented.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

Registered as a professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
A University Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is integral and will contribute to the success in this role.
Your application will reveal thorough knowledge of engineering principles, methods and practices as they relate to the design of track, track related structures and associated right-of-way.
You must have sound judgement, well developed analytical, problem solving, verbal communication and technical report writing skills.
Your application will also demonstrate strong knowledge of project management concepts and practices and the ability to carry out and coordinate projects and studies.
You must have the ability plan and coordinate the work of others when overseeing the development of new track components and standards.
Registration with the Project Management Institute would be considered an asset.
Proficiency in the use of a computer and associated Microsoft applications (MS projects, ProjectWise etc.).
