Omachron Science Inc. (OSI) is a small family-owned company located in Hampton, Ontario Canada doing research and development for the past 47 years. Omachron has worked with numerous companies to provide a wide range of products to the market including water treatment systems, small appliances, plastics manufacturing, LED lighting, recycling, food growing and more.

We are looking to hire a permanent, full-time Senior Electronics Technician. A genuine interest in and a passion for innovation, science, technology and learning is essential along with a talent for thinking outside of the box. You would work from Monday to Friday, 0800 hrs (8am) to 1700 hrs (5pm). These hours of work may require modification to meet company needs. Annual holiday entitlement is 5 weeks after 12 months of employment with 3 weeks off each summer, one week between Christmas and New Years, and one week in March. A wide range of benefits begin after 3 to 6 months of employment.

Roles & Responsibilities



Work individually and as part of a team to develop "ground up" electronic circuit and systems designs including participation in defining functional requirements, designing, prototyping and testing solutions, conducting design reviews, and the documentation and verification of "finalized" designs.

Be a key contributor to innovation process, bringing forward best practices and industry standards, while thinking outside the box.

Install and assemble electrical and mechanical components using standard work procedures and using hand & power tools. Such work includes but is not limited to gluing, fitting, crimping, soldering, cabling, drilling, and some light sheet metal work, etc. to complete the prototype.

Read and apply electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and other technical documentation.

Navigate CAD or other engineering software to assist in process planning and assembly.

Perform inspection of prototypes to identify defects, resolve the identified defects, ensure compliance with specifications and codes, and quality control.

Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace, and align subassemblies and components.

Perform basic testing and support troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems including the use of test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, calipers, and other measurement devices.

Proficiently cross-reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.

Interact with co-workers, team leaders, supervisors, and managers daily.

Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement.

Organize work instruction documents, tools, and parts daily to ensure a consistently clean and orderly workplace.

Comfort collaborating with other scientists and engineerings disciplines (mechanical, optics, controls, software)

Required Experience



Must have at least 5 years experience Electrical / Mechanical Technician.

A degree or diploma in Electronics or similar is required.

Technical experience working with analog, digital, and mixed signal circuits; ADC/DAC; sensors.

Knowledge of Ontario electrical codes are an asset.

Must be able to accurately assemble and test prototypes and components as required.

Must have ability to read, write, and follow procedures while always being conscious towards safety.

Experience with PICO, PLC, Raspberry Pi is a major asset.

Must be able to manage your time well, prioritize and sequence tasks, and communicate effectively.

Must be willing to be trained in more than one discipline to increase flexibility.

Must have a solid knowledge of computers along with a desire to learn required software.

Must be able to lift up to 23 kg.

Must be able to stand throughout a shift.

Must have a good command of reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English.

It is desirable to have a knowledge of PLCs and computerized data collection systems.
