Senior

Electrical Engineer

to join our Electrical Utilities & Renewables team based in either Halifax, Nova Scotia or one of our New Brunswick branch offices (Moncton, Fredericton, or Saint John). Bring your expertise, creativity, and leadership to a team that thrives on delivering excellence in electrical design and consulting for a wide range of high-voltage infrastructure projects; including substations, transmission & distribution systems, and renewable energy developments. The candidate we seek will lead complex projects and help shape the future of our electrical utilities and renewables division. This role offers the opportunity to establish best practices, mentor others, and play a key role in building a high-performing engineering team.

Your Key Responsibilities:




Lead and Innovate:

Act as Project Manager and Technical Lead on complex multidisciplinary projects for industrial clients, electrical utilities, and renewable energy developers, from initial feasibility through to detailed design and implementation;

Mentor and Inspire:

Guide and mentor junior engineers and technologists, fostering an environment that encourages professional development, innovation, and growth;

Design with Precision:

Oversee the preparation of technical reports, design drawings, equipment and construction specifications, tender documents, and costing activities;

Deliver Excellence:

Apply a deep level of electrical engineering experience, provide review and support across multidisciplinary teams, and ensure efficient project execution toward the goal of technical excellence;

Ensure Safety & Quality:

Incorporate important safety standards and principles of risk management into designs and ensure projects adhere to relevant electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices;

Drive Business Growth:

Lead or support business development activities including client relationship management, proposal preparation, and expanding our electrical services; and

Provide On-Site Expertise:

Conduct site reviews, assess existing infrastructure, and oversee construction activities to ensure the successful execution of projects.



Your Capabilities and Credentials:




A degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is required, with registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with provincial Engineering Associations. A minimum of 15 years of relevant electrical engineering and project management experience; Experience in electrical power system design, including medium- and high-voltage power distribution, protection & controls, system grounding, SCADA and telecommunications, with in-depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, provincial modifications, and relevant CSA standards; Capability to write compelling proposals with comprehensive budgets and schedules that provide optimal value for our clients; Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and deliver quality work on-time and within budget; Ability to implement innovative and sustainable engineering solutions and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and Have a valid Driver's License and be willing to travel occasionally.

Additional skills and experience that will make you stand out




Experience working in a consulting engineering environment specifically in the industrial, electric/telecommunication utility, and/or renewable energy fields; Experience working directly in the Electric Utility industry, transmission and distribution and/or generation; Experience managing large multidisciplinary projects and budgets; Strong familiarity with electrical design and modeling software (e.g. AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, Revit, SKM, ETAP, CYME, PSCAD, PSS/E, WinIGS etc.); Power distribution system modeling and analysis including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash studies; The ability to communicate in both English and French would be an asset.
