Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an
Electrical Engineering Product Leader
located in the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area. The Engineering Product Manager will be responsible for managing the development and lifecycle of products, defining product roadmaps, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the alignment of product development with the company's objectives. Daily tasks include gathering requirements, prioritizing features, overseeing design and engineering teams, and monitoring product performance in the market. The role also involves identifying opportunities for product enhancement and addressing customer needs.
Product Design & Technical Development
Lead product requirements, engineering specifications, and technical roadmaps.
Oversee concept development, prototypes, testing, validation, and release.
Create technical drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, heat transfer calculations, and energy modeling.
Select materials for heating elements based on mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties.
Integrate control systems (thermostats, PLCs, sensors) to ensure accurate temperature regulation.
Drive improvements in energy efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Support integration of renewable energy sources (solar PV, wind) into system designs.
Manufacturing & Supplier Collaboration
Review manufacturing KPIs including quality, cost, throughput, and delivery.
Lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.
Conduct design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews and support readiness activities.
Project Management
Lead project planning, scheduling, resourcing, and execution.
Manage risks, milestones, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
Ensure timely handoff of engineering deliverables and validation milestones.
Professional Engineering Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and sign documentation in accordance with EGBC P.Eng. requirements.
Ensure adherence to regulatory, safety, and industry compliance standards.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams.
Translate technical requirements into executable plans across internal and external teams.
Support product launches, technical reviews, and manufacturing builds.
Safety & Quality
Drive a strong safety culture and compliance-oriented approach.
Create DFMEA, DVP&R, and validation documentation; know how to apply APQP methods, including PFMEA, Control Plans, and PFDs.
Qualifications
Required
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC.
Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (with cross-disciplinary knowledge).
Experience applying APQP in product design and manufacturing.
Minimum 10 years of experience working with electromechanical systems in a design/manufacturing environment.
Nice to Have
Experience with resistance heating systems.
Knowledge of carbon fiber paper (CFP), carbon/graphite materials, and related manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with high-temperature materials and insulation methods.
Background in thermal engineering, energy storage, or renewable energy integration.
Experience with project management software and structured methodologies.
