Senior Electrical Engineer



Aurea Technologies is looking for a talented Senior Electrical Engineer to join its fast-growing team in Burnside Business Park in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Aurea is a female-founded cleantech startup that develops portable wind energy systems. The company consists of a diverse team of outdoor enthusiasts and renewable energy innovators. Our flagship product, the Shine Turbine (www.shineturbine.com), is a portable wind turbine for charging handheld electronics which gives people the freedom to generate power from the wind anytime, anywhere.

Responsibilities:



The successful Senior Electrical Engineer can look forward to:

Creating detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts Designing and testing unique and complex multi-layer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) Developing or supporting custom product firmware in C/C++ Developing prototypes and custom jigs to resolve development risks in multiple products Reviewing and maintaining compliance with CSA, UL, CE, UKCA, FCC, and other product certifications Selecting components as required and generating a product Bill of Materials (BOM) Generating engineering documentation in support of design activities and product requirements Working with our customer service team and customers to resolve or troubleshoot any product issues Working with supply chain suppliers to achieve material and labour design-to-cost targets

Qualifications:



Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution, have their P. Eng. designation, and be eligible for registration with Engineers N.S. Candidates should also have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience in:

Creating schematics in CAD software, such as Altium Working with code revision tools such as Github Working with USB-PD, USB, I2C, SPI, UART, and Bluetooth LE protocols and integrating them into new products Developing products containing Li-Ion batteries (with consideration to battery protection, fuel gauging, and charging), and experience working with DC motors is beneficial Designing multi-layer rigid and flex PCB layouts for electrical and thermal efficiencies while achieving EMI/EMC requirements for consumer products as well as meeting production cost targets
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with power bank product design or products containing Li-Ion batteries. This is an in-person position, so applicants must be located within the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) and able to commute to Burnside Business Park in Dartmouth.

Additionally, you should:

Be able to work on your own and operate well within a team Have adequate communication skills and organization Be willing to learn and work within varying areas of skill and responsibility Be able to troubleshoot and provide solutions to problems Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
