An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Electrical Designer to based in our Burlington Office with the flexibility to work in a hybrid model. We are looking for someone with passion and drive, who is highly organized and can ensure that our high standard of quality is maintained.

About the role:

  • Responsible for drafting and 3D modelling electrical systems for industrial projects
  • Ability to work as part of a team, applying skills to both new construction and renovation projects for drafting of power distribution, lighting, control and communication systems.
  • Provide CAD drafting services to design team.
  • Ability to perform site visit to investigate the existing electrical system and equipment information.
  • Work under the direction of Electrical Engineers and EITs to develop working drawings from conceptual layout to detailed construction document packages for submission
  • Perform the 3D model for electrical equipment, cable raceways, and clash interference check.
  • Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of Electrical design of single line diagrams, control schematics and wiring, General Arrangement, load calculation & cable sizing, MCC & distribution panels, grounding, lighting, aboveground and under ground cable raceway, and installation details.
  • Ability to lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD aided design software for the creation of Instrumentation and Controls design of Loop drawings, PLC and DCS wiring, Panel layout and instrument General Arrangement
  • Ability to create and maintain cable schedule and material take offs
  • Ability to lead the preparation of the electrical equipment specification and construction specification
  • Provide support for plotting and sending of electronic file submission
  • Apply, maintain, and enforce CAD standards
  • Ensure proper documentation of all work, products, and relevant activities
  • Other duties assigned as necessary
  • Provide on-site construction supports as required
Qualifications

About you
  • College diploma or equivalent
  • 10 - 15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of drafting electrical, controls and instrumentation deliverables in an engineering environment
  • Experience working within an EPCM environment is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in electrical projects associated with power or other heavy industries
  • Able to work within defined schedules and deadlines
  • Familiar with construction safety standards and training
  • Familiar with the CEC and CSA Standards.
  • A strong team player with the ability to work independently
  • Strong communication, analytical and time management skills
  • Ability to quickly absorb and use company-specific techniques, standards and procedures Microsoft Word and Excel skills
