Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge? We are looking for a Senior Director, Government and Public relations. Please note that the candidate may be based in one of our 2 offices: Montreal or Quebec City.

The role




Reporting to the Chief Communications and Engagement Officer, the candidate will be responsible for defining the public consultation strategy, as well as for all the Project's groups and stakeholders in Quebec. They will be responsible for relations with the Quebec government and will define and deploy appropriate action plans adapted to each of the regions and realities identified in Quebec. They will actively participate in consultation exercises in the various target implementation zones and will be called upon to represent the Project on a multitude of occasions and with a variety of audiences. In addition, the candidate will represent Alto and develop relationships with government bodies, professional associations and other stakeholders.

The responsibilities



Define and manage the community relations and public consultation strategy for Quebec, ensuring that the best strategies are in place along the entire corridor. Play a strategic liaison role between public relations activities and the Project's operational needs, ensuring fluid coordination with stakeholders to support social acceptability, community mobilization and project advancement. Define and deploy the relationship strategy with the Quebec government. Ensure the necessary connections between its team and that of Ontario, and with the team responsible for indigenous relations. Develop and manage the Quebec government and public relations team and associated consultants. Develop management and progress monitoring tools for senior management.

The requirements



Bachelor's degree in communications, environment, administration, social sciences or any other relevant discipline. Minimum 15 years of experience in public affairs and government relations, mainly in community relations, project social acceptability and public consultations. Experience in accompanying linear infrastructure projects or major industrial projects is a major asset. Several years experience in team management. At ease in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage several priorities at once. Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills, with the ability to popularize complex subjects and present them clearly. Ability to build positive relationships and intervene professionally in sensitive or pressurized situations. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, guided by high ethical standards. In-depth knowledge of Quebec socio-economic issues and best practices in public consultation, as well as a good understanding of municipal political and administrative structures (including a basic understanding of those in Ontario). Availability for frequent travel, primarily in Quebec, with occasional travel to Ontario. Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written.
