A leading apparel company specializing in branded and private label programs is looking for a highly motivated and organized candidate with strong leadership skills for the position of Senior Controller.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments.
Manages the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, letters of credit, documentary collections, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, human resources, and operations, etc.
Directing all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting.
Develops, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for management
Prepares and assures financial plans are consistent with organizational goals
Prepares forecasts and manages cash flow.
Analyzing company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status reports to senior management.
Building an accounting department as the company grows
Provides financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary
Manage commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms
Assure that assets are not awkwardly encumbered with unrealistic commitments
Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), EDC credit card companies, and collection agencies
Provide a visionary and leadership implementation role on behalf of Accounting / Finance to all departments, creating a well-respected and sought-after department goal.
Reports directly to the CEO.
Supervise overall Operations (including: Safety, Security, Computer Services and Building Maintenance)
Other duties as necessary
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting/Finance, operations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and guidelines. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, directing work, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
7-10 plus years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA required.
Experience working in the apparel and distribution sector (Preferred)
Knowledge of processing import letters of Credits
Knowledge of Visual (Preferred)
Knowledge of implementing ERP system
Strong Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principals including General Accepted Accounting Principles
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports statement and projections
Strong leadership and ability to develop team members
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time.
Ability to strategize and solve problems
Excellent communication and people skills
