My client is in search of Senior Contaminated Sites Specialist to provide environmental site assessment (ESA), remediation, and re-development services to clients across Western Canada. This role emphasizes excellent project management skills, with some mentoring of junior staff, and the ability to execute and manage multiple medium to high-complexity work plans.

Location: 100% Remote

Travel: less than 10%

Responsibilities:

Portfolio and Client Management:

  • Contribute, implement, and maintain client business growth plans to create conditions that result in long-term repeat business.
  • Develop and maintain direct contact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Communicate client intel to management/executive and work to develop appropriate responses.
  • Work with the Business Development team by facilitating opportunities for networking, meeting with potential clients, and providing client intelligence and technical resources to support business development activities.
Technical Engagement:
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship regarding the execution of assessment and risk projects, including: file reviews, compilation of complex data sets, development of conceptual site models, and development of creative solutions/risk-based recommendations to manage challenging contaminated sites.
  • Develop technical resources and utilizing training to improve internal aspects of the discipline.
  • Complete senior review and provide technical direction in the preparation of proposals and work scope for assessment and risk projects.
  • Take a leading technical role in risk assessment projects for complex sites.
  • Provide technical review and signing off on reports prepared by other assessment and risk project staff.
Mentorship and Training:
  • Provide leadership and oversight to Calgary-based staff and partner with leaders in other offices in Sherwood Park, Saskatoon and Grande Prairie to build a cohesive and effective team.
  • Identify competency gaps within the discipline and assist in the coordination of required training.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of mentorship and competency training programs.
  • Collaborate internally with the executive team, Employee Resources Group, and service group directors to develop effective service group teams.
  • Provide direct mentorship of staff.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 10 years of directly related experience in executing and managing site assessments and reclamation.
  • Eligibility for membership in a professional organization such as AIA, ASPB, or APEGA/EGBC.
  • Demonstrated formal and/or informal leadership skills.
  • An understanding of the Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 Risk Assessment guidance documents and/or equivalent documents from other jurisdictions as required.
  • A desire to provide innovative environmental solutions to complex client sites.
  • Clear effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a willingness to travel as required.
