What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing

The Senior Consultant is a key member of the Public Affairs team, which focuses on enhancing and protecting CIBC\xe2\x80\x99s reputation with through media and public relations, investor and financial communications, and issues management. In this role, you develop and manage proactive efforts to promote CIBC\xe2\x80\x99s capabilities, insight, advice, reputation and corporate story. You report to the Senior Director, Public Affairs, and will work with partners across the bank.

How you\xe2\x80\x99ll succeed

  • Public Affairs \xe2\x80\x93 Develop and take ownership of proactive PR plans that build awareness of our bank\xe2\x80\x99s growth initiatives, product and services, and other key topics of interest to our stakeholders. Maintain/grow relationships with the media, influencers and PR agencies.
  • Reputation and Brand Management \xe2\x80\x93 Help build external profile for CIBC\xe2\x80\x99s innovative client-focused capabilities, the investments being made in the bank\xe2\x80\x99s transformation and thought leadership on important issues. Proactively identify, recognize, assess, and manage risks and opportunities with a goal of building and protecting CIBC\xe2\x80\x99s reputation. Gather facts, think strategically, and apply solid judgment in managing difficult communications challenges.
  • Strategic Communications \xe2\x80\x93 Help oversee and manage PR agencies engaged in promoting our client-focused business initiatives. Write and develop communication plans, media releases, social content, briefing documents and key messages. Ensure spokespeople are effectively prepared to deliver strategic messaging. Work closely with Communications colleagues and partners across the bank to manage a wide range of communications and PR activities to enhance and protect CIBC\xe2\x80\x99s reputation. Influence leaders with regard to approach, tone, content and timely impact of communications.

  • You have a degree/diploma in Journalism, Communications or related study and/or equivalent experience.
