Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) is hiring a 1-year temporary full-time Senior Consultant for Patient Education and Information to work with the Supportive Care team to update, revise and create all the necessary patient education and information needed to open the new centre. As a Senior Consultant for Patient Education and Information, you will bring your professional expertise in oncology, principles of adult learning, health literacy, digital skills, stakeholder engagement and facilitation to creating meaningful digital and print resources in a fast paced, challenging commissioning environment. CCA believes that accessible information and education through all stages of the cancer experience improves patient and family experience, allows them to fully partner in their care and enhances their ability to self-manage their well-being, side-effects and symptoms. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference for patients and families as CCA opens the new cancer centre.Description:The Senior Consultant, for Patient Education and Information uses their advanced education and knowledge of adult learning, health literacy, and provider/patient/family shared care to lead the design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive suite of patient, family and community education material for the new Arthur J.E Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The Senior Consultant brings expert knowledge and leads the review, analysis, and synthesis and production of complex medical information to create patient, family, and community resources with the overall goal of optimizing patient and family capacity to actively engage in cancer care and their experience throughout the cancer journey. The incumbent leads critical stakeholder engagement with CCA\'s patients/families/caregivers, the Supportive Care team, the Patient Education team, clinical subject matter experts (physicians, researchers, nurses, radiation therapists, allied health, clinical educators, and operational leadership, SCN and GURU) and others throughout CCA. Overseeing the development of evidence-based, cancer educational resources for all Albertans, this position also works closely with a myriad of external stakeholders including Indigenous Health Centres, MyHealth.Alberta, Breast surgery programs, digital media services, Web Comm, communications, Wellspring Alberta, and cancer educators across the country. The incumbent leads the development of print, digital, in-person and eLearning modalities to accommodate diverse learning styles, and to ensure equitable access through and to different media. The Senior Consultant for Cancer Patient and Family Information leads collaborations to ensure patients and families receive the right information, at the right time, and in the right way for the new centre.
