Your Opportunity:

The Senior Consultant, Health Systems Knowledge and Evaluation (HSKE), works with the Director, HSKE to lead a team of highly skilled individuals who help AHS clinicians, leaders and external partners find, create, share and apply evidence in order to make informed decisions about clinical practice, health system improvements, and innovations. HSKE is a provincial team with diverse professional skills and expertise. The team applies a variety of research, evaluation and knowledge management approaches to gather evidence in a systematic fashion to enable program leaders to (i) understand the impact and value a specific project is generating and (ii) gather and share knowledge for continuous organizational improvement and learning. In this position, you will report to the Director of HSKE within the Innovation Evidence Evaluation Impact (IEEI) unit, Health Evidence and Innovation (HEI) department and the Provincial Clinical Excellence (PCE) portfolio of Alberta Health Services. As a seasoned professional, you have the capacity to: work independently, mentor staff and provide leadership to strategic projects of significant complexity and scope that have system-wide impact. You will work with teams across the entire organization including Strategic Clinical Networks, operational/clinical areas and provincial programs. At any given time, you will oversee a variety of initiatives ranging across the Core Services of HSKE: Evidence Gathering & Analysis, Evaluation Services, and Knowledge Dissemination & Education. You will also be a vital member of the HSKE Leadership Team. This is a part-time, temporary position to cover a maternity leave.

Description:

As Senior Consultant, you work with the Director, Manager and other Senior Consultants to lead a dynamic team in promoting AHS as a learning health system. You engage with stakeholders to ensure their needs are understood and that the team is able to complete the deliverables on time and on budget. Your knowledge & experience in evidence gathering and analysis, critical appraisal, stakeholder engagement & management, facilitation and coordination, and complex problem solving will be key to ensuring our internal and external stakeholders are able to assess the impacts they are achieving. Within the broader HEI department you form part of a cross-functional team that contributes to key organizational initiatives. This role is instrumental in: Providing leadership and direction for broad range of initiatives focused on health system improvement. Leading stakeholder consultations to assess fit of requests within HSKE core service areas. Being responsible to provide sound project management including scoping, development of workplans, delegation of tasks, quality assurance. Applying best practices related to knowledge management methodology, theory, and practice. Exercising judgment and given latitude in planning and solving problems that are new and complex in nature and developing innovative strategies to solve or lead others to resolve complex problems for which there is limited policy or practice guidance. Matching the complexity and demand of projects to methodologies. Identifying challenges and playing an active role in supporting organizational growth and development through evidence-informed decision making at the systems level. Working collaboratively and sustaining positive working relationships with the project stakeholders, management teams, front-line service providers, co-workers and others.

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree or equivalence of training and experience, in a health-related field (e.g. social sciences, community health sciences, or health discipline) A minimum of 5 years in a role focused on knowledge management and/or research/evaluation and/or facilitation/consultation within an organization of significant size and complexity Minimum of three years\' experience within a healthcare environment is required. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Demonstration of a strong understanding of research and evaluation and/or knowledge management methodology Additional Required Qualifications:

Progressive leadership experience over a period of at least 2-3 years in a health care environment. Advanced consulting, facilitation, and relationship building skills. Knowledge and demonstrated application of knowledge management theories, practices and goals and/or knowledge of scientific concepts and principles pertaining to evaluation/research methods and theory; Knowledge and demonstrated application of business planning, and project management theories, principles and practices; Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Ability to plan, organize and manage short- and long-term initiatives and projects and deliver customer-focused results. Proficiency in written, verbal communication and technical skills is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as a team player. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Team leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Preferred Qualifications:

Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Comprehensive understanding of health sector integration within AHS. Experience in managing complex large scale initiatives.
