Duties
Offer friendly companionship and emotional support to older adults and individuals with disabilities, promoting social engagement and mental well-being
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility assistance, and toileting
Monitor residents' health by observing for changes in behavior or physical condition; report concerns promptly to healthcare professionals
Support medication reminders and help with medication administration following proper protocols and HIPAA regulations
Prepare nutritious meals and snacks tailored to dietary needs; assist with meal planning and cooking as needed
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards by assisting with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning living areas, laundry, and organizing personal belongings
Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to transfer individuals with mobility challenges
Follow care plans meticulously to ensure personalized support aligned with each resident's needs
Document observations, care activities, and incidents accurately while respecting residents' privacy and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
Participate in training sessions on dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities to enhance caregiving skills
Engage residents in recreational activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction
Support residents during emergencies or medical situations by following established protocols including CPR or first aid when necessary
Skills
Proven experience in senior care, assisted living, home health, hospice care or long-term care environments
Knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital signs monitoring
Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care and working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physically capable of assisting residents with mobility needs
Strong understanding of medication administration procedures adhering to HIPAA regulations
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, healthcare teams, and colleagues
Experience working in group homes or residential facilities is highly desirable
Basic knowledge of CPR and first aid certification required; ongoing training encouraged
Ability to maintain detailed documentation for care plans and incident reports accurately
Compassionate attitude combined with patience, empathy, and active listening skills
Capable of working independently as well as part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional resident-centered support
