JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Communications Advisor.
Reporting to the Sr Manager, Corporate Relations & Projects, we're seeking a strategic communicator to build relationships and engage with national and international audiences on the future of new nuclear growth. In this role, you will support the Corporate Relations and Communications management team by providing effective design, implementation and maintenance of corporate relations and communications strategies, programs and policies which support OPG business strategies at the site and divisional levels. As a senior and experienced practitioner, you will shape and deliver high-profile delegations and tours and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders. The position will strategize, create and deliver external communications for the company, communications services for emergency planning purposes, and community outreach and Corporate Functions programs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support the Corporate Relations and Communications management team by planning and delivering high-profile delegations and tours with national and international audiences on the future of new nuclear growth.
Build and nurture trusted relationships with industry leaders, government and stakeholders. Understand stakeholder priorities, foster collaboration and create opportunities for dialogue.
Support the Corporate Relations and Communications management team by providing effective design, implementation and maintenance of corporate relations and communications strategies, programs and policies which support OPG business strategies at the site and divisional levels.
Recommend, develop, and implement comprehensive and effective community relations, employee communications and corporate Functions strategies, processes and programs, to address issues and impacts, and to promote and maintain support for OPG's goals and objectives. Monitor and measure the effectiveness of these initiatives.

Establish and sustain sound and broad-based working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels in order to identify and integrate communications requirements which support the achievement of OPG's business strategies.
When headquartered at an OPG location with an on-site Information Centre, ensure effective use of the Information Centre, including key messaging and program development and coordination. Effectively manage the Information Centre programs including community outreach, tours, and employee usage, and coordinate special and public events for the Information Centre, at the site, or in the local community.

QUALIFICATIONS
Requires 4 years of University training (Grade XII plus 5 years), in the communications, social, political or natural sciences.
Requires a minimum of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
Requires broad industrial experience to become knowledgeable and capable in the effective application of communication techniques used for dealing with various designated employee and client groups.
Requires experience to become familiar with OPG Nuclear & Electricity Production organization, nuclear station layouts for touring, and the established communication policies and procedures, emergency planning, and various issues which are prevalent regarding the operation of a nuclear power station, such as environmental concerns, radiation safety, nuclear energy applications and CANDU technology.
Requires experience in developing clear, simple communications on complex business, employee relations and environmental matters and working with varied internal stakeholder groups to reconcile competing priorities and to ensure compliance with Ontario Power Generation policies, initiatives and strategies.
Requires experience to become familiar with the directives, policies, standards and procedures, including safety of a nuclear generating facility.
Requires strong time management and organizational skills to effectively develop and execute communication strategies and programs.
Requires a strong facility in written and oral expression to prepare clear and concise documentation, to develop and manage communications projects and programs, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of internal staff and external stakeholders.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions.
