The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. We are looking for a Senior Communications Advisor to join our dynamic team as we work together to support the AESO in shaping the future of electricity in Alberta. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, this role requires an experienced professional who will work closely with senior leaders on high-profile communications and stakeholder initiatives that directly impact the reputation and success of the AESO.

Key accountabilities include but not limited to:
Lead the strategic development, execution and measurement of the AESO?s internal communications strategy, as well as project-specific internal and external communication plans and activities that support the Corporate Strategic Plan.
Develop a broad range of communications tactics such as speeches, presentations, intranet articles, website copy, key messages, briefing notes, executive emails, videos, promotional material, infographics, social media content, etc.
Monitor industry issues and provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders.
Lead the execution of large-scale events such as employee town halls, industry information sessions, webinars, etc.
Work closely with other members of the Communications and Stakeholder Relations team to identify issues and opportunities for cross-functional sharing with other business units.
Copywrite, edit and proofread documents to ensure quality while adhering to corporate branding and standards.
Participate in rotational on-call media and crisis communications duties.

You have:
A post-secondary education in public relations, journalism or communications. Professional accreditation with CPRS or IABC and/or iap2 certification is an asset.
Minimum 5-7 years of related communications experience.

Detail-oriented with a high degree of organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in a complex and transforming organization.
Strong presentation skills; facilitation training and experience is an asset.
Previous electricity or energy industry experience is an asset.
