Dale & Lessmann LLP is a well-established mid-sized law firm based in Toronto, with expertise in several areas, including commercial real estate law. Known for delivering exceptional, client-focused service across Ontario, we are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Law Clerk with commercial real estate experience to join our collaborative legal team.

Overview:



The Real Estate Clerk will provide critical administrative and legal support to our commercial real estate lawyers, assisting with research, document preparation, and file management. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in Ontario real estate law, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to precision.

Key Responsibilities:



Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including leases, purchase agreements, closing documents, and Land Transfer Tax affidavits. Conduct legal research on Ontario real estate laws, municipal zoning bylaws, and property titles using tools like CanLII, Westlaw, or Teranet. Organize and maintain case files, ensuring compliance with firm standards and Ontario's real estate regulations. Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties to schedule meetings, closings, or title searches. Prepare correspondence, legal memoranda, and summaries for lawyer review. Track deadlines for filings, court dates, and other legal obligations, including those with the Ontario Land Registry Office. Support due diligence processes, including title searches, off-title searches, and property record reviews. Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and managing electronic case management systems.

Qualifications:



College diploma or certificate in a Law Clerk or Paralegal program. 5+ years of experience as a law clerk, paralegal, or in a similar role, preferably in Ontario real estate law. Proficiency with legal research tools (e.g., CanLII, Westlaw, Teranet) and Microsoft Office Suite. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with Ontario's real estate framework, including the Land Titles Act and Electronic Registration System, is an asset. Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
