Working on the DEA (Data engineering & architecture) team within Scotiabank\'s Data Office, you will meet individuals from around the bank. Working specifically with our cloud technologies you will be responsible for bringing the bank\'s data together on cloud. You will be a great fit if you are open to mentoring others, and passionate about implementing good design and development practices. What we expect of you:

• You will Advocate for good data and engineering/development practices within your squad. Collaborate, generate ideas, and develop a deep level of expertise in priority projects.
• You will guide the technical direction and implementation for impactful projects within the Data engineering & architecture.
• Evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance, and customer impact to ensure we build the right solution.
• Coach junior team members and guide them Impact end-to-end product lifecycle of features spanning multiple areas.
• Integrate data from different sources into consumer-ready data products
• Write and maintain documentation for data infrastructure and processes on Google Cloud Platform
• Work with the product manager to understand the product requirements and ensure that the data infrastructure supports the product goals on Google Cloud Platform
• Communicate with stakeholders, including product managers, to understand their data needs and provide regular updates on project progress on Google Cloud Platform

Areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

• Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Team Lead experience
• Strong programming skills (Python and/or Java)
• Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Dataflow, and Cloud SQL
• Experience with design and front end development is a plus
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience collaborating with various teams
• Experience growing, managing, and mentoring others
• Experience with GCP deployment and management tools (Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager)
• Understanding of product development process and data infrastructure requirements
