ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Human Relations:Provide guidance to the casework team as per managements direction. Participate in the orientation, training and mentoring of caseworkers. Act as a team leader and provide advisement to casework staff as required. Assist the Director with training, supervision, and evaluation of staff. Oversee the day-to-day activities of casework and ensure all weekly reports are completed on time. Motivate casework team and ensure the work environment, is safe, healthy, and holistic for all. Assist the casework team when faced with issues to reach effective and beneficial resolutions. Audit all case management files to ensure they are consistent with internal protocols and advise Director of any concerns. Identify all program concerns and report to the Director/Assistant Director. Ensure critical case management information is shared during shift change
2.Client Supervision:Ensure the safety and security of all Cuthbert House clients through superior and active supervision. Supervise residents in the facility and when escorting clients in the community in a lawful, safe, and expedient manner. Ensure that telephone check-ins with the other facilities are completed each night. Observe, assess, and document resident behavior and ongoing progress in a factual manner. Supervise the delivery of medication and ensure clients are provided with appropriate medical attention as required. Provide supervision and feedback to student placements.

3.Case Management:Represent The Salvation Army Cuthbert House at community case conferences in a manner appropriate to the appointment. Provide comprehensive case management and counselling supports for assigned clients. Prepare and schedule daily programming, fitness & recreation schedules in consultation with participating staff and youth. Know and follow the policies and procedures of The Salvation Army Correctional & Justice Services Cuthbert House, Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Refer clients to outside resources and counseling when needed. Complete plan of care for each assigned client within 30 days of entry into the system and provide regular updates. Assist youths to address their criminogenic issues through challenging and addressing criminal conduct and thinking. Support youths in fulfilling their spiritual needs in a holistic manner. Develop and teach therapeutic treatment and behavioural techniques. Share in responsibilities for physical, mental, spiritual, and social wellbeing of the youths in our care. Complete menu planning with youth and prepare the menu in accordance with the "Healthy Eating Recommendations" from Canada's Food Guide.

4.Health & Safety:Assume delegated responsibility for the facility as it relates to health & safety. Ensure residents are provided with appropriate medical attention as required. Deal with serious incidents and crisis in a safe and therapeutic manner. Communicate and enforce facility rules while maintaining discipline and safety. Participate as an active member of the Joint Health & safety Committee. Ensure health, safety and security of all youths and staff. Monitor safety practices ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and report any concerns to the Director. Assist the Joint Health & Safety Committee in conducting regular fire drills and inspections
WORKING CONDITIONS:Working environment is typically in the facility in generally agreeable conditions. Participates in the rotational on-call duties (50%). Regular travel to and from scheduled and unscheduled appointments (20% travel). May encounter hostile clients. Some unscheduled overtime maybe associated with this position. Works rotational shifts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:Completion of a formal post-secondary/college diploma program of 2 or 3 academic years in Social Service Work, Corrections, and/or Childcare. First Aid & CPR Training. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate or willingness to obtain. Driver's license and driver's abstract required Must be able to provide clear protected B Safe Food Handling Certificate. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge RequirementsMinimum of three (3) years of prior related experience in the Corrections field as a Caseworker. Knowledge and experience in Case Management processes and practices. Strong knowledge of the youth corrections system. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Fluency in the French language preferred. Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $26.78 to $33.47 with a maximum of $40.16.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
