Job Description

The role: 100% on-site in Calgary.

The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) reports to the Head, Information Systems and works closely with business users and stakeholders to understand their processes, requirements and problems. With knowledge of current and available systems, and new technologies, the BSA investigates, analyzes, proposes and implements solutions to achieve the desired results. The work mode is that this position operates in a hybrid mode, meaning that while you have the flexibility to work remotely, there is an expectation to be on site periodically, or full time in the future.
Being onsite allows us to interact directly with the businesses, which is crucial for building strong relationships and supporting their day-to-day needs effectively. This hybrid approach is designed to balance the convenience of remote work with the benefits of in-person collaboration.

Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):

Learn and maintain a good understanding of the application systems, the product/system capabilities, system roadmaps, and integrations with other systems in use
Learn and maintain an understanding of the key business processes across the org and how they use technology for support and automation
Gather business requirements using methods related to the task and/or project, such as current system & document analysis, requirements gathering workshops, surveys, site visits, process and workflow analysis
Analyze, document and deliver key artifacts using standards templates: Requirements Traceability Matrix, Requirement Specs, Use Cases, Test Cases, and Training Guides/Quick Reference Cards
Investigate and propose solutions to achieve business goals/needs
Configure application rules, update UI, create/update user roles for security access for business applications
Configure, develop integrations between systems using appropriate tools
Design, develop reports/dashboards using appropriate tools
Maintain accurate application systems and interface documentation (Visio diagrams, customization documentation)
Provide end user training and training documentation to business "superusers"
Provide end user testing support for the business applications and technologies used across the companies
Provide assistance to end users by addressing and resolving any applications errors or issues
Utilize the Service Desk system to track and manage service requests and resolutions, as well as project and enhancement tasks
Utilize the Service Desk to gain approval for and implement changes (minor and major) required to business applications
Coordinate enhancements and/or small projects
Work with third party software vendors and service providers as required to develop/deliver/support applications for org divisions
As a member of the IT team, actively participate in continuous process improvement including defining, developing and implementing standards, templates and best practices

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience in leading a team
Experience in leading a project from concept to implementation
Strong business acumen gained through participation as a BSA in multiple business systems projects and application development/support roles
Expert knowledge/understanding of ERP level information systems, databases, and integration technologies leveraged in the business systems domain
Minimum 8 years' experience with the Microsoft stack, primarily Dynamics 365 DF&O, Dynamics CRM and Dynamics GP a must
Minimum 5 full implementations of DF&O experience is a must
Must have experience upgrading DF&O using LCS, updating the DEV, UAT and ultimately scheduling the update to the production systems.
Understanding of IT methodologies: Agile, SDLC, ITIL
Work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrate solid listening and collaboration skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group
Thoroughness and an acute attention to detail
Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines and ability to effectively prioritize time

Education and Experience:

Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or Mgmt. Information Systems
8 or more years of relevant Business Systems Experience
Experience working with and/or implementing ERP level packaged applications
Experience working with custom applications
Experience with Cloud, On Premise and Mobile applications
Experience working with reporting tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
Certification in Business Analysis, Process Analysis, Project Management and/or ITIL considered an asset
Experience working on systems supporting Energy Services/Oilfield Services businesses considered an asset
Experience with Microsoft SQL is considered an asset
