Role Overview
As a Senior Bookkeeper, you'll manage a portfolio of restaurant clients from our Toronto office, ensuring their financials are accurate, complete, and delivered on time. Your work helps operators make better decisions, improve profitability, and sleep at night, so accuracy and communication matter.
You'll report to the Manager of Restaurant Accounting and mentor junior team members while leading day-to-day bookkeeping operations. This is a role for someone who loves variety, values precision, and enjoys being the go-to accounting partner clients trust.
What You'll Do
Own the full bookkeeping cycle for your assigned clients
Oversee AR, AP, payroll, sales reporting, and expense management
Act as the main point of contact for clients and vendors
Lead cheque runs and manage vendor inquiries
Train, mentor, and support junior bookkeepers
Reconcile accounts and solve discrepancies with accuracy and confidence
Communicate proactively with clients about budgets, variances, and financial health
Build and maintain strong hospitality-focused client relationships
Prepare year-end packages (trial balances, adjusting entries, reconciliations)
Produce and analyze financial reports with meaningful insights
Calculate and submit PST/GST, payroll deductions, EHT, WSIB, and other remittances
Process bi-weekly payroll and handle ROEs, T4s, and payroll inquiries
Support external accountants during year-end
Lead period-end close for your clients
Contribute to a positive, growth-centered team culture
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
Experience with restaurants or retail accounting is an asset, but not required
Experience managing multiple clients or portfolios
Strong understanding of Canadian accounting practices (preferred, not required)
Advanced QuickBooks Online + Desktop skills
Excellent communication (written + verbal)
High proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office
A problem-solver's mindset and love of clean books
Ability to juggle deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills
A genuine interest in the hospitality world
Work Environment
Toronto office (Richmond St.) in-person to start
, with hybrid days available after training
Monday-Friday schedule
Occasional additional hours during busy periods (period-end/year-end)
Leadership responsibility for up to 6 direct reports
