We are seeking a part-time Senior Bookkeeper (20-24 hours per week) to manage day-to-day accounting operations. This is not a work from home position. The ideal candidate has experience in multi-company, is self-motivated and enjoys working independently in a small, dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Bookkeeping & Payroll
Perform all day-to-day accounting activities across multiple entities, including journal entries, accruals, intercompany invoicing, and month-end close activities.
Complete monthly bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations.
Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online.
Maintain Dropbox files and attach supporting documentation in QuickBooks Online for all transactions.
Complete all payroll, and payroll-related remittances and submissions for filing.
Prepare GST returns.
Calculate and file WCB.
Maintain accurate vendor, client, and employee records.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and payment scheduling.
Manage cash flow requirements and report weekly to company principals.
Complete Company Year Ends, including working paper files for external accountants.
Support ongoing improvements to accounting workflows and documentation standards.
General Operations Support
General office duties (filing, scanning).
Assist Project Managers with ordering.
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience in a small to medium sized business.
Possess designations in Accounting / Bookkeeping or Relevant Accreditations. I do not think it is necessary to have formal accreditations. Maybe put "or equivalent experience".
Full proficiency in QuickBooks Online, MS Office and Dropbox. Helpful if you have experience with the Project function and Payroll function of QuickBooks Online.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work under pressure and consistently achieve required deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
As this is a one-person accounting department, must be able to take charge and own all financial duties required.
Strong critical thinking and analytic skills.
Compensation & Hours
Hourly rate:
$32-36/hour (based on experience).
Hours:
Approximately 20-24 hours per week.
Work environment:
Must be able to work in our office located in Burnaby. Preferably four 5 hour days, or 5 four hour days.
