Job Description

The Senior Benefits Analyst plays a key analytical and strategic role within the Client Management, Large Client Strategy team, supporting the Lead Consultant, Director, and Vice President in delivering customized, data-driven group benefits solutions for large clients.



This position combines financial acumen, plan design expertise, and market intelligence to optimize employee benefits programs. The analyst is responsible for conducting detailed renewal and experience analyses, preparing and negotiating with carriers, and producing insightful reports and presentations that drive client decision-making.



Join our Client Management, Large Client Strategy team as a Senior Benefits Analyst, where you'll work closely with our Lead Consultants to create and deliver innovative group benefits consulting solutions. This includes strategic plan design, financial management, and driving the delivery of solutions that meet and exceed client expectations. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Client Management, Large Client Strategy, you will collaborate closely with our internal consulting team, engage with vendors, and ensure high-quality outcomes at every step.



The role also involves leading marketing and benchmarking initiatives, evaluating cost implications of plan changes, ensuring compliance and accuracy across all benefits documentation, and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.



With a focus on strategic plan design, financial management, and execution excellence, the Senior Benefits Analyst contributes to the overall client experience and operational efficiency of the Large Client Strategy team.

The Senior Benefits Analyst will:

Benefits Program Analysis and Design: Evaluate and recommend enhancements to employee benefits plans, such as health, dental, life, and disability insurance, to meet client or organizational objectives. Perform annual renewal analysis, negotiate with carriers, and prepare comprehensive client reports and presentations. Analyze experience reporting, develop budget projections, and assess plan financial performance. Lead marketing initiatives by preparing and submitting specifications, conducting cost comparisons, analyzing responses, and delivering recommendations through detailed marketing reports. Evaluate data to determine cost implications of plan design changes. Ensure carriers and providers adhere to established service standards. Support the consulting team by preparing detailed documents for client presentations and meetings. Stay informed of industry trends by participating in conferences, seminars, and professional development opportunities. Conduct benchmarking studies to compare and optimize plan designs. Review all benefits documentation, including contracts, booklets, agreements, and amendments, for accuracy and compliance. Coordinate and oversee the preparation of new sales submissions, including master applications and other essential documents, ensuring smooth implementation and timely execution. Create and update detailed plan design documents using Excel templates as needed. Maintain and update key information from insurance carriers. Manage Enterprise reporting for the client portfolio, including tracking and updating insurance carrier commission schedules.

To be successful as a Senior Benefits Analyst with People Corporation, you will need:

Minimum 3-5 years' experience in group benefits Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for all types of employee benefits plans LLQP, CEBS are assets but not required Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel is required Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Strong analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands to meet client and company needs Ability to work independently and in a team environment Strong written and verbal communication skills
