Our client is on the hunt for an experienced Labour and Employment Lawyer, with a particular emphasis on labour law, to join its growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of matters, including collective bargaining, grievance arbitration, and labour board proceedings, while advising unionized and non-unionized employers on workplace issues. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in labour law, exceptional advocacy skills, and the ability to provide strategic, solutions-focused advice in a fast-paced environment. What you will be doing:



Manage files from initial consultation through to resolution. Prepare legal documents, including, collective agreements, grievance responses, arbitration briefs, workplace policies, etc. Draft, negotiate, and provide advice on a broad range of agreements, including various employment agreements, termination packages, etc. Provide strategic legal advice on labour relation issues, including union organizing drives, strikes/lockouts, contract interpretations, etc. Conduct legal research and stay current on developments to advise clients accurately and proactively. Liaise effectively with clients, union representative, counsel, regulatory bodies, and other external parties as required.

What you will bring to the position:



Minimum of five (5) years of labour and employment law experience, with a strong emphasis on labour matters. Lawyer licensed to practice law in the Province of Ontario and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Demonstrated experience with collective bargaining and union negotiations along with a current awareness of provincial and federal labour and employment legislation, industry trends, and best practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and litigation legal software and research tools (LexisNexis, Westlaw, CanLII, etc.). Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
