Le conseiller juridique principal, Quebec, soutient les besoins juridiques et de conformite de l'entreprise en offrant des conseils specialises en droit du travail et de l'emploi, en gerant des dossiers complexes et en elaborant des pratiques exemplaires au sein de l'equipe juridique. Ce role peut egalement inclure la gestion des initiatives transversales et la sensibilisation des equipes internes aux enjeux juridiques.


Le conseiller juridique principal developpe l'expertise en droit du travail et de l'emploi au sein de l'equipe juridique, assurant ainsi une contribution significative a l'ensemble de la societe. Ce role comprend l'elaboration et l'atteinte des objectifs et resultats cles (OKR) pour ce secteur. Le titulaire de ce poste demeure a l'affut des changements legislatifs et reglementaires et transmet aux principaux intervenants des mises a jour, des resumes et des analyses de ces changements. Le conseiller juridique principal gere des dossiers complexes, negocie et redige des ententes juridiques et offre un soutien continu aux differentes unites d'affaires. Le role inclut egalement un appui aux initiatives transversales au niveau juridique et la supervision des avocats externes lorsque requis. Le poste peut impliquer la planification, le developpement et la mise en oeuvre de formations internes destinees a l'equipe juridique et a l'ensemble de la compagnie dans des domaines juridiques specialises. Cela comprend le developpement d'une base documentaire complete de materiel de formation et de references. Le titulaire du poste met en place des processus et des modeles innovants afin d'attenuer les risques, reduire les couts et ameliorer l'efficacite. Les responsabilites peuvent inclure l'attribution de taches au sein d'equipes multidisciplinaires et la retroaction reguliere sur le rendement. Ce role inclut la formation et la sensibilisation des unites d'affaires sur les obligations legales et de conformite, souvent effectuees en collaboration avec d'autres equipes internes, dont la conformite. Le conseiller juridique principal identifie et met en oeuvre des methodes de travail efficaces a l'interieur et a l'exterieur du service juridique, tout en veillant a l'alignement des strategies et des approches juridiques a l'echelle de l'entreprise.

Qualifications :



Plus de 7 ans d'experience en droit du travail et de l'emploi au Quebec au sein d'un cabinet d'avocats de premier plan ou d'un service juridique interne traitant de diverses questions liees au domaine, y compris des questions relatives aux droits de la personne. Excellentes aptitudes en redaction et en negociation, ainsi que la capacite a gerer efficacement des priorites concurrentes. Solide sens des affaires et excellentes aptitudes relationnelles. Parfaitement bilingue en francais et en anglais.

Permis et autres qualifications :



LL. B/ J.D. et membre en regle du Barreau du Quebec sont requis. Etre membre en regle du Barreau de l'Ontario est un atout.

Il s'agit d'un poste en teletravail base au Quebec. Le poste necessite des voyages a notre bureau de Mississauga environ 4 a 6 fois par annee (d'une duree d'une semaine en moyenne), ainsi que des voyages occasionnels au Quebec.

Summary

Senior Counsel creates and builds labour and employment capabilities within the Legal team for this area of legal expertise, ensuring significant cross-functional impact. This role involves setting and achieving clear objectives and key results (OKRs) for the legal domain, while staying current with legislative, legal, and regulatory changes. Regular updates, summaries, and analyses of these changes are provided to key stakeholders Senior Counsel manages complex legal matters, negotiates and drafts intricate legal agreements, and provides ongoing legal advice to business units. Additionally, the position supports cross-functional initiatives through the provision of legal advice, effectively managing external counsel when engaged. The position may involve planning, developing, and delivering internal education to the Legal team and broader business on specialized legal areas. This includes developing a comprehensive knowledge bank of training materials and related documentation. Senior Counsel builds best-in-class processes and templates to mitigate risk, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. Responsibilities may include assigning tasks within the cross-functional team and providing regular performance feedback. Educating and training business units on legal and compliance requirements is a key responsibility, often conducted in partnership with business stakeholders and compliance teams. Senior Counsel identifies and implements efficient ways of working both within and outside the legal department, ensuring alignment on overall legal strategies and approaches.

Qualifications :



7+ years of labour and employment law experience in Quebec at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department dealing with a variety of labour & employment matters, including human rights matters. Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to prioritize competing demands. Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills Fluently bilingual in French and English

Licensing & Other Qualifications:



LL.B/J.D. and member in good standing with the Barreau du Quebec is required. Member in good standing with Law Society of Ontario is an asset.

Other details:



This is a remote position based in Quebec. The role requires travel to our Mississauga office approximately 4-6 times per year (typically for one week per visit), along with occasional travel within Quebec.
