The Senior Business Architect will be responsible for supporting the portfolio\'s vision to re-imagine our digital and virtual assets to create a better, more connected healthcare system, along with evolving and encouraging a citizen-centered, digital-first mindset. The Senior Business Architect will support the Digital Excellence in Health digital and transformation strategy, roadmap and change management, working closely with stakeholders and teams, to successfully deliver the business outcomes across a complex stakeholder landscape. The Senior Business Architect will support the design of DxH\xe2\x80\x99s business and operating models to deliver on its strategic vision and building transformation capabilities to enable transition.

The Senior Business Architect is a subject matter expert within the Business domain of Enterprise Architecture. They have broad knowledge across many functions of an organization and are a trusted partner within DxH portfolio and across other portfolios supporting program partners with their strategic priorities. The Senior Business Architect leads large complex initiatives ensuring alignment between the strategies, operating models and operational initiatives.

Here is what you will be doing:

Strategy and Planning

  • Participate in the development of Ontario Health\xe2\x80\x99s Digital Strategy and capture the strategic and tactical goals through various business models (including vision, goals, objectives, mission, tactics, roadmaps, plans, capability maps, value streams)

  • Support the build and maintenance of the portfolio\xe2\x80\x99s operating model (including capabilities, functions, services, partners, customers, org design etc.) and its continuous evolution to align with strategic direction.

  • Facilitate business leaders and cross functional teams in the development, maintenance and evolution of the organization and portfolio business capability roadmap that demonstrates how current and future business models will drive IT needs. Deliverables include (but not limited to): Capability models, thermographic, maturity and impact assessments and roadmaps.

  • Engage key business stakeholders to identify business and technology-enabled innovation opportunities that enable and drive business strategy.

  • Support strategic planning processes by providing input to the scope definition of strategic initiatives and visibility into impacts, dependencies, overlaps and opportunities. Identify process improvements, opportunities and trends and introduce them into the strategic planning cycle.

  • Provide management consultancy services to business leaders, business units and other stakeholders, to support with design thinking, business modeling, ecosystem modeling, innovation management, IT investment analysis, and operating model design.


Transformation and Innovation Methods and Practices

  • Create innovative solutions to identified challenges, propose recommendations for improvements to existing programs, delivery models, policies and processes, and creating and tracking performance metrics and outcome measures to evaluate success.

  • Support business development and structure incubation of new business models, products, services and partnerships to prepare them for integration into the organization.

  • Facilitate the development of new processes and procedures to enable transformation without compromising business and operational continuity

  • Deliver tailored transformation recommendations and action plans to guide business leaders and initiative owners.

  • Support best practices such as, design thinking/user-centered design, customer experience, service design, LEAN/LEAN Startup, and Agile methods, customer journey mapping, user research and user experience.


Strategic Relationship Management

  • Facilitate interaction with business leaders, product managers, and product owners in business-driven conversation over the risks and implications of product decisions to the line of business, business unit, and greater enterprise.

  • Build strong relationships across portfolios and with a diverse set of health system stakeholders and partners.

  • Develop knowledge and understanding of customer needs and objectives to effectively support new business/partnership opportunities.


Business Architecture

  • Support the development of a Business Architecture strategy, capabilities and practice in alignment with OH\xe2\x80\x99s Enterprise Architecture strategy and build engagement within DxH portfolio, Transformation COE and beyond.

  • Support the development of a structured business architecture approach, methodology and toolbox for capturing the key views of the enterprise including (but not limited to) business-outcome-statements, strategy on a page, business capability modeling, value-streams mapping, process and ecosystems modeling.

  • Contribute to development, maintenance, and publishing of Enterprise Architecture-related strategies, blueprints, policies, standards, plans and guidelines

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to deliver wholistic solution architectures for products and solutions. Take ownership of developing and maintaining of contextual, conceptual and business architecture artifacts for solutions within an evolving ecosystem.

  • Contribute to development of product and technology strategies and roadmaps that are customer focused, aligned with strategic direction and driven by business outcomes.

  • Provide an enterprise approach to integrating and streamlining processes and technologies to maximize value and minimize impact across the organization

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices for business architecture, business strategy and IT trends


Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

  • An undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field or equivalent working experience is required

  • Ten+ years of overall working experience, with five or more recent years focused on strategy and/or Business Architecture

  • Demonstrated working experience with Digital Strategy and large organization and/or business transformation initiatives

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with various functional areas of an organization

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate large complex initiatives that cross functional boundaries

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and translate strategic, tactical and operational business requirements into conceptual and business architectures

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and apply frameworks for complex problem solving

  • Demonstrated experience of developing business architecture models such as BPMN 2.0, data flow diagrams, information models, business functional model, UML, Capability maps, business-outcome-statements, strategy on a page, value-streams mapping, process and ecosystems modeling

  • Excellent knowledge of the business architecture practice and applicable industry experience in implementing solutions for Health Care, Pharmaceutical, Finance, Human Resources and/or Information Management

  • Self-driven, hands-on & results-oriented to perform in a matrix environment

  • Solid conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and evaluate opportunistic innovative ideas with internal and external partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, collaborate and negotiate with internal and external partners and stakeholders to advance Ontario Health and the broader health sector technology needs.

  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to convey complex and/or ambiguous business problem in a clear and simple way that is understood by the diverse audience

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating, collaborating and communicating with small and large groups

  • Experience working on complex problems and providing innovative and creative solutions to achieve quality and work process improvements

  • Outstanding stakeholder and customer relationship management abilities

  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies

  • Excellent knowledge of Architecture frameworks (such as Zachman, TOGAF) and applicability to the healthcare sector.

  • Knowledge of other frameworks such as ITIL, PMBOK, COBIT, security and privacy standards and principles applicable to the healthcare sector is an asset.

  • Knowledge of Archimate is an asset.

  • Ability to assimilate and correlate disconnected documentation and drawings, and articulate their collective relevance to the organization and to high-priority business issues

  • Ability to visualize and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture

  • Ability to facilitate, collaborate and work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus

  • Ability to work independently on assignments from start to end including defining problem, developing framework and approach, stakeholder buy-in, facilitation and solutioning

  • Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities

  • Sharp business acumen and proven ability to lead through influence, storytelling, problem solving, negotiation, and analytical skills
