We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Analyst to join our Finance team in Toronto. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting activities related to financial reporting for the Private Markets division. You will provide strong technical accounting knowledge (ASPE/IFRS) and analysis to the finance teams. You are responsible for maintaining data integrity and helping establish efficiency and improvement of processes.
We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. Our flexible hybrid work guideline requires teams to come to the office a minimum of 3+ days per week.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
Preparing/Review and support of monthly accounting entries and account reconciliations
Preparing annual/quarterly financial statements as required
Detailed analysis of balance sheet and income statement monthly and quarterly account activity
Identifying, interpreting and analysis of accounting risks and issues
Assisting in preparation of reports for various regulatory bodies
Participating in the development of new and improved procedures
Assisting/leading with full cycle year end audits
Acting as a business partner to the investment professionals by providing guidance on coding of invoices and analysis of year-over-year variances
Liaising with external auditors, focused on inquiries and technical accounting issues impacting the supported portion of the business
Liaising with internal accounting groups to ensure consistent treatment of similar items/issues
Preparing accruals, monthly reconciliations, and management reports
Assisting with various tax filings for entities domiciled in Canada and the US
Creating schedules and reports to analyze corporate expenses using advanced Excel skills
Participating in ad-hoc financial systems related projects
All other duties as assigned from time to time
Providing supervision/coaching to Analyst
To succeed in this role, you have:
CPA designation
Firm acquired audit experience - preferably big four
Effective communication skills (written & verbal)
Customer service oriented
Understanding of accounting processes, procedures and internal controls
Expertise in Microsoft Office tools - specifically Excel
Strong research and analysis skills
Ability to adapt quickly and learn new tasks independently
Excellent organization skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to manage competing priorities
Ability to generate bold, creative ideas to improve processes
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across multiple levels within the organization
