Our Team:

The Safety, Health, and Risk, North Atlantic Operation Team is focused on prioritizing, planning, and delivering on safety, health, and environment performance improvement areas.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Analyst Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) to join our North Atlantic team based in Sudbury, Ontario.

The role will provide data analysis and support to the Vale North Atlantic Operations to ensure development and implementation of the overall SHE Management Plan to successfully satisfy corporate BM, Global, regulatory and social responsibilities established for protection of personnel, property, and the environment.

Additionally, the position provides consolidation of metrics to draw out management performance to achieve accountability for SHE management and performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPI\xe2\x80\x99s) of SHE management system processes, requirements, and programs.

The Analyst manages, analyses, and troubleshoots incident reportin, Critical Risk Management (CRM), hazard management data, training, using Vale\'s Health Safety & Environment database and acts as a primary point of contact for analytical and performance measurement data on safety, health, environment, risk and emergency management.

In the role you will:

  • Develop and streamline systems for facility SH&E data collection from within North Atlantic Operations.
  • Support data collection initiatives for Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI), National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), Towards Sustainable Mining TSM) and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain SHE databases to support the functionality and sustainability of SHE systems within the organization.
  • Coordinate with Base Metals and Vale Corporate Health safety Environment Risk (HSER) reporting functions as required to ensure data collection and reporting systems and processes are functional and up to date.
  • Conduct data analysis and develop reports and dashboards on SHE to support communication of performance within the organization.
  • Support the SHE management system development and actions implementation with provision of support for auditing, departmental performance measurement tracking and generation of data analysis summaries to support continuous improvement mechanisms.
  • Support the implementation of Vale Production System (VPS) throughout the operations by providing support for intranet-based share of information and update of resource materials, data, and tools.
  • Support data for SHE North Atlantic intranet development and maintenance.
  • Manage the internal accident and incident reporting system and provide support for analysis and tracking of incident related data which supports the requirements of corporate reporting functions.
  • Track and monitor data related to HSE best practices, fatality prevention and risk control initiatives as well as audit, assessment recommendations, improvements across North Atlantic operations.
  • Track the improvement of implementation (use and effectiveness) of the Critical Activity
  • Requirements (RAC\xe2\x80\x99s), Critical Risk Management (CRM) system, Integrated Management System (IMS), Process Safety Management (PSM) and the Vale Incident Management system (SAP-IM).
  • Provide data analysis on significant incident investigations, root cause analysis method usage and mitigation identifications to limit reoccurrences and decrease events.
About You

Education:
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution in a related field of study Business Analytics, Data Processing is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a mining or industrial environment.
  • SHE Experience is an asset.
Skills:
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and communications skills.
  • Experience with SAP-IM.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Must be highly skilled in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Capacity to influence without authority.
  • Takes initiative with the ability to be self directed to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
