About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Community Wellness Supports, and in collaboration with the Mental Health and Addictions Program (MHAP) Leadership Team (the senior director, zone directors and zone psychiatry department heads) and the IWK, the Senior Analyst leads the development, implementation and operation of standardized project governance, management, planning, issues management and reporting standards and infrastructures. The Senior Analyst advises strategic initiatives leads and Sponsors with respect to project planning process and methodology, work planning and effort estimation, resource allocation, issues and risk management, and execution. The Senior Analyst participates in the development of the strategic direction of MH&A by providing leadership in the areas of policy development, planning and accountability, provincial operational standards, best and promising practices, and more broadly, evidence-based decision making. The Senior Analyst provides strategic analysis and advice on issues impacting mental health and mental illness across the lifespan, as well as on reducing the harms associated with substance use and gambling on the lives of Nova Scotians.

Working closely with the MHAP leadership team, the Senior Analyst assists in designing a provincial integrated Mental Health and Addictions program of care and in developing strategic and operational plans that support excellence in care delivery, improvement in health outcomes, and achievement of standards of care established by NSH, the Department of Health and Wellness and other relevant bodies. The Senior Analyst also works to facilitate the implementation of plans associated with health services planning and associated initiatives that support client informed outcomes. The Senior Policy analyst is responsible for ongoing contract management with vendors and is responsible for leading Requests for Proposals (RPF) on behalf on the MHAP.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in a recognized Health Promotion, Public Health, Mental Health and/or Addiction health discipline or related field with five (5) years\' experience in a health promotion, public health, or mental health and addictions system preferred.
  • 5-7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience providing strategic, executive level development related decision support
  • IAP2 (International Association for Public Participation) Training is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing community partnerships
  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of knowledge exchange and change management to support change
  • Demonstrated expertise in Project Management and knowledge of issue tracking, issue management and escalation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the health system. MHA experience is preferred.
  • Experience in contract management and developing requests for proposals.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and decision skills
  • Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning.
  • Strategic planning and systems thinking.
  • Expertise in financial planning.
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues.
  • Critical thinking and analytical problem solving.
  • Expertise in leading complex change.

  • Collaboration, negotiation and persuasion skills are paramount as this role requires the engagement of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks.

Compensation and Incentives

$43.90 - $58.33 Hourly
