Department Overview
The Risk Management (Risk) Function partners with the business to create a risk engaged culture, provide insights to mitigate threats and seize opportunities, and assesses the company's risk landscape relative to stakeholder expectations. Responsible for the second line oversight of financial, non-financial, strategic, and business risk management across the IGM group of companies, the Risk Function also has responsibility for Corporate Sustainability, CSOX and Insurance programs, Fraud Risk Management Program, and administrative oversight of IGM Financial's internal audit function.
Position
The Senior Analyst, Risk is part of the CSOX team that works closely with individuals in many business units and at various levels of management to ensure that the control environment surrounding financial reporting and other business processes is designed appropriately and operating effectively. Responsibilities include assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, evaluating findings, providing recommendations, and reporting results. This role also includes supporting various other risk function activities.
Responsibilities:
Assist with planning and executing control testing for assessing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including coordinating work with Internal Audit, internal stakeholders, and external auditors
Evaluate severity of deficiencies, identify root causes, develop recommendations and ensure timely remediation
Provide guidance and assistance to business units in identifying and maintaining process documentation relating to internal controls over financial reporting and other business processes
Apply professional judgment with respect to assessing risk, and identifying, designing and evaluating internal controls
Provide advice and recommendations as necessary to strengthen and optimize business processes and controls
Create and maintain internal control test plans and review with business units
Guide business units in the execution of internal control test plans, conduct review of test execution and assess effectiveness
Assist in the monitoring and reporting of internal controls over financial reporting and disclosure processes including the quarterly sub-certification process
Assist with facilitating annual risk assessments for various business units throughout the organization
Qualifications:
3 or more years of accounting/auditing experience or experience with review and assessment of internal controls
Certified Professional Accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent experience, education and/or degree
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively and build working relationships with various levels of management
Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
Understanding of financial reporting processes, internal controls and risk management
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
