Position Title: Senior Analyst, Risk & Controls (Internal Audit)

Team and Location: Risk & Controls - Calgary, AB

Minimum Starting Salary: $ 99,840 /year

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Risk & Controls, the Senior Analyst will lead the planning, execution and reporting of a variety of financial, operational and IT internal audits across Parkland\xe2\x80\x99s Canadian, USA and International divisions.

Aligned with the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Senior Analyst will assist in the delivery of the annual Internal Audit plan by conducting internal audits, managing and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and facilitating the communication of results and agreed actions to stakeholders.

The Senior Analyst should expect to assist in the delivery of the Internal Audit Plan both as an effective team member or leader, partnering with other internal auditors and co-source partners, and as a sole contributor. In addition to specific responsibilities relating to the delivery of the annual Internal Audit plan, the Senior Analyst should expect to be involved in non-audit engagements focused on providing controls and process improvement advice across the organization.

As a member of Parkland\xe2\x80\x99s Risk and Control function, the successful candidate will also gain exposure to wider risk management functions, including; Enterprise Risk Management, Commercial Contract Assessments and Investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as One Parkland across 25 diverse countries and help shape our company by supporting Diversity & Inclusion
  • Use Parkland\xe2\x80\x99s BOLD behaviours (Build, Own, Lead, Deliver) to provide value back to Parkland through individual development, mentoring and supervision
  • Plan and execute audit projects including detailed risk assessments, development of audit scope and objectives, development and execution of audit programs, identification of process improvements, and documentation of audit observations
  • Lead and/or perform as a team member, audit activities including managing the audit projects, ensuring audit quality, maintaining audit documentation aligned with IIA and Parkland standards
  • Specific experience relating to IT internal audit and Data Analytics considered and asset
  • Effectively communicate the outcome of internal audits through audit reports
  • Present audit reports to management at various levels and obtain action plans that address identified business risks
  • Follow-up with management to ensure timely remediation of identified risks and implementation of management action plans
  • Maintain objectivity and independence while fostering positive and professional relationships with Management
  • Develop and apply knowledge of downstream services including refining and marketing, commodity trading and fuel distribution (retail and wholesale)
Qualifications and Skills:
  • University degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field
  • Professional designation (CPA, CIA, CISA and/or CFE); equivalent combination of education and work experience would also be considered;
  • Minimum 6 to 10 years of internal or external auditing experience;
  • Excellent communication, teamworking skills and a desire to work in a high-performing team;
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills; the ability to speak candidly to Management regarding audit results is critical;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to build strong relationships within the team as well as within the business;
  • Strong analytical and computer skills preferably JDE, Great Plains, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to multitask under strict deadlines;
  • While travel is not a core requirement, willingness to visit Parkland locations across Canada, US and the Caribbean is an asset
