Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Senior Analyst, Logistics & Contracts to join our Operational Services team in St. John\xe2\x80\x99s, NL.This is a permanent position based in the St. John\xe2\x80\x99s office on a Monday-Friday schedule.The Senior Analyst, Logistics & Contracts leads and is responsible for both Long Harbour and Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay inbound logistics and supply chain activities associated with intermediate feeds, reagents and warehouse material. The incumbent will report directly to the Operational Services Manager and work with them or their direct Superintendent for all matters relating to Vale Newfoundland & Labrador (VNL) logistics, as well as the Marketing and Sales Manager and their teams, coordination/integration with the Procurement Managers, and the relevant Site Services, Maintenance, and Port Managers or designates in both Long Harbour & Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay.Additionally, in this position, you will:

  • Be responsible for Newfoundland and Quebec Port and Stevedoring/warehousing activities, warehousing for VNL, and the associated external labour and internal resources required to execute work.
  • Provide technical and subject matter expertise in the handling of dangerous goods and hazard/risk management.
  • Oversee aviation cargo logistics for both the mine site and processing plant, and contracts for moving people and material (food, freight, equipment, etc.) to and from remote locations, and continuity in services wile also supporting the Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay Underground Mine Expansion.
  • Oversee shipping schedule updates for international acid ships, the MV Umiak or other ships as necessary & as dictated by changes in weather and cargo, delivery requirements and route to key stakeholders.
  • Review KPI\xe2\x80\x99s to prioritize planning activities for approved work within areas of responsibility while working collaboratively with other plants and divisions to achieve operational and project goals.
About YouEducation:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration/Commerce or a related field of study.
  • A concentration in Supply Chain/Logistics is an asset.
  • Six-Sigma/Lean, and/or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certifications are preferred.
  • Completion of TDG Ground, TDG Air, Ground & Marine & WHMIS training are preferred.
Experience:
  • 8-10 years of experience in Logistics/Supply Chain.
Skills:
  • Logistics & Supply Chain knowledge/skills are a requirement.
  • Budgeting and contract management skills, and a strong analytical background in process improvement/Six-Sigma.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, PeopleSoft, Ellipse.
  • Knowledge with regards to cycle times for materials, shipping and transportation and the impact of the items on resource requirements and cost.
  • Experience & training for the transportation of dangerous goods, and freight management in both harsh and remote climates.
  • Good communications skills are required as well as the ability to multitask, change priorities, problem solve and resolve conflict.
