Position Title: Senior Analyst, FP&A

Team and Location: Finance \xe2\x80\x93 Calgary, AB

Position Summary:

The Senior Analyst, FP&A will be responsible for leading a variety of financial / strategic activities including building financial models, strategic planning, performing research and preparing presentations for the Canada Retail division, with a focus on supporting the Network Development / Real Estate group (collectively, the \xe2\x80\x9cReal Estate\xe2\x80\x9d team).

Key Responsibilities:

Business Partnering / Decision Support

  • Develop Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) models for high-impact organic growth / divestment opportunities and create detailed business cases / presentations summarizing project returns (NPV, IRR, Payback), strategic alignment and recommendation(s)
  • Act as a trusted financial partner and key member of the strategic planning process focused on major Canadian initiatives, including Parkland\xe2\x80\x99s \xe2\x80\x9cReady Fresh\xe2\x80\x9d (Food) offer, Standalone C-Stores, Highway Sites, Electric Vehicle charging and other broader energy transition projects
  • Prepare Senior Leadership Team (\xe2\x80\x9cSLT\xe2\x80\x9d) and Board reporting package(s) with executive level explanations of operational results, business / market trends and recommendation(s) to manage material variances with a focus on Real Estate updates
  • Lead detailed market research, analysis (both financial and non-financial) and other decisions support services
  • Drive continuous business improvement by pro-actively analyzing operational results and identifying key business / market trends and opportunities
Other Ad Hoc
  • Lead / support the Real Estate budget process including Capital Budgeting / prioritization, as well as the impact on EBITDA and Cash Flow.
  • Support forecasting activities with a focus on the impact of Real Estate\xe2\x80\x99s business case activity.
  • Prepare lookback analysis on Real Estate projects / growth initiatives.
  • Support the Corporate Development, Investor Relations and Strategy teams in satisfying their information needs (M&A, Investor Updates, Divestments).
  • Participate in business change and system process improvements.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in accounting, business, finance or economics with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a relevant strategic Corporate Finance role (e.g., FP&A, Corporate Development, Investor Relations), Consulting or Investment Banking.
  • Professional Accounting Designation, MBA or CFA preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle EPM (previously Hyperion), Power Bi and Tableau Business Intelligence tools considered an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Power Point including the ability to manipulate large volumes of data and extract value added information from multiple databases.
  • Ability to develop relationships across departments and cultivate a collaborative approach to decision making.
  • Keen interest in understanding the key business drivers of the Divisions and challenge pre-conceived interpretations of the impact of operational events and decisions on the financial results.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze and critique complex financial models.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, ever-changing environment and deal with confidential, time sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Willingness to share information / knowledge, ask questions when in doubt and work towards a common goal.
