EPCOR's Water Services group (EWS) is pleased to offer a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Financial Reporting Senior Analyst. This role is an integral part of the Financial Operations Team and is based at the Rossdale Water Excellence Building in Edmonton, Alberta.

In this position, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely analysis of operational revenues, expenses, and variances, as well as assisting with the preparation of monthly internal financial reports, budgets, and forecasts. Additionally, you will provide valuable support to the Manager, Water Canada Finance, and the Senior Manager, Operational Finance, while also offering ongoing assistance to Water Services Directors and Operations Managers.
What you'd be responsible for
In the role of Financial Reporting Senior Analyst, you are accountable to the Water Canada Finance Manager and will have the following key accountabilities (but are not limited to these):
Contributing to the planning and direction set by the Manager, Water Canada Finance, while fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Driving optimal results by producing and delivering accurate, timely financial reports that support corporate and business unit performance metrics. This includes ensuring monthly, quarterly, and year-end corporate reporting is completed on schedule.
Providing revenue and expense analysis to Operations Directors and Managers to enhance decision-making, including:
+ Guiding monthly variance reviews, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
+ Reviewing on-hold reports and collaborating with Operations to resolve issues efficiently.
Evaluating intercompany transactions to ensure correct coding and proactively resolving discrepancies with affiliates before corporate finance deadlines. This includes reviewing balance sheets and verifying income statement balances align with acceptable thresholds.
Preparing and distributing monthly variance reports against budget, including headcount files and other materials for Operations Directors and Managers' variance meetings.
Enhancing productivity by driving continuous improvements in reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Managing system support and administration for Oracle, Adaptive, and related financial tools, including participation in system development and testing.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, such as Regulatory, Revenue, and Capital Finance, to provide financial support as needed.
What's required to be successful
Qualifications, experience and behaviours you possess are:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting from a recognized institution.
CPA designation (Professional Accounting).
At least four years of direct accounting experience.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to apply accounting standards knowledge and judgment to research and develop recommendations on moderately complex accounting policies.
Relevant experience in:
+ Preparing financial statements and note disclosures.
+ Using Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Projects, and Oracle BI.
Familiarity with Adaptive Insights is an asset.
Consistently meets objectives on time and to established standards.
Strong communication skills, with active listening and effective collaboration.
Detail-oriented and committed to identifying and advocating for process improvements.
