The Senior Financial Analyst will be a key member of the Telus Health Controllership team, focusing on assessing and ensuring compliance to Revenue Recognition policies. Principal tasks will include monthly account reconciliation and analysis of revenue accounts. The role will partner with the Commercial Finance team and be a critical business liaise ensuring awareness and enforcement across the assigned businesses. The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Senior Manager responsible for Revenue Accounting.
Accountabilities:
Monthly closing, including journal entries, account reconciliations and account analysis
Assistance with IFRS 15 compliance work
Performance of contract assessments for our deferred implementation contracts
Preparation of account continuity reports for accounts owned by the revenue team (AR/ unbilled fees, deferred revenue etc.)
Preparation of variance assessments to provide meaningful insight for reporting and cashflow purposes
Execution and compliance of SOX controls
Work in a collaborative and constructive manner with Commercial Finance team and cross functional partners
Assist in developing and implementing opportunities to improve and streamline business processes
Assist in quarterly reviews and annual external audits, preparing working papers and liaising with auditors as required
Perform ad-hoc projects, reports and analysis as required (includes providing ad-hoc accounting advice to the Commercial Finance team and business on revenue contracts)
Education and Experience:
3+ years of accounting and financial analysis experience
Exposure to IFRS 15 (either practical experience or through the completion of CPA courses)
CPA designation is an asset
University Degree preferably in Accounting, Business Administration or Commerce
Advanced Excel and data mining skills (pivot tables, lookup functions, manipulating large volumes of data) and strong knowledge of other MS Office applications
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Flexibility and ability to meet tight deadlines
Dedicated team player, who takes ownership of tasks assigned, demonstrates initiative and independence
Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments
Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen
Experience with SAP or Workday ERPs considered an asset
