The Senior Analyst, Commodity Tax will be responsible to provide expert commodity tax (GST/HST/QST and PST) advice as a subject matter expert to President's Choice Financial ("PCF") and other associated legal entities to keep PCF compliant with all commodity tax legislation and regulations. Responsible to lead the process, as appropriate, by ensuring that the commodity tax reporting/ financial systems, procedures, controls and policies are appropriate and functioning as intended so that timely, accurate and reliable information is produced for reporting to taxing authorities.

Key Responsibilities /Job Duties:



Responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual GST/HST/QST returns for PCF (Selected Listed Financial Institution) and other associated entities Responsible for the preparation and reconciliation of quarterly commodity tax related journal entries Collating information sourced from various systems and/or business units and drafting responses for tax authorities and external financial auditors Responsible to provide commodity tax advice on an on-going basis to all business units including vendor contracts Developing/enhancing commodity tax related accounting procedures and internal controls and preparing/updating standard operating procedures. Assist with ad-hoc and cross-functional projects and initiatives as required

Qualifications and Competencies




A Post-Secondary education in Accounting or related field is required; experience working in a fast-paced corporate environment, particularly in the financial services industry will be considered an asset


The preferred candidate will also have:

Minimum of 3 years' experience in commodity tax. University degree in Accounting and/or advanced standing toward an accounting designation (CPA) or holds an accounting designation Knowledge of commodity tax principles and rules Advanced knowledge of accounting principles and procedures as they relate to commodity tax Knowledge of the operations and controls of the financial systems (SAP) and the ability to procure and report the information from these systems Advanced MS Excel skills Excellent communication skills including presentations to stakeholders on commodity tax related issues Must be current and aware of new commodity tax developments, changes in commodity tax legislation and interpretations and apply the impact to various business units within PCF and Loblaw
