Job Description

This role involves conducting research to identify funding opportunities, preparing, and submitting grant proposals, managing awarded grants, and developing relationships with relevant agencies. The specialist will also identify and apply for incentive programs, manage Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credits, and support client development and service.

Technical, Quality and Engagement Management



Research

Conduct comprehensive research to identify available grants, subsidies, and incentive programs at provincial and federal levels. Stay informed about changes and updates in funding opportunities, eligibility criteria, and application processes.
Grants

Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals and applications in a timely manner. Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary information and documentation for grant applications. Monitor the progress of awarded grants, ensuring all conditions and requirements are met. Prepare and submit required reports, financial statements, and documentation for funded projects. Maintain accurate records of all grant-related activities and correspondence.
Incentives

Identify and apply for applicable incentive programs, including tax credits, rebates, and other financial incentives. Maximize the financial benefits of incentive programs by ensuring compliance and timely applications. Utilize technology to enhance the quality and efficiency of deliverables.
Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED)

Identify, document, and manage claims for Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credits. Identify eligible SR&ED projects and prepare detailed technical narratives and financial documentation to support SR&ED tax credit claim. Maintain comprehensive and organized documentation of all SR&ED activities, including project descriptions, timelines, and expenditures. Advocate on behalf of the client in the event of a CRA SR&ED review. Stay current with SR&ED program guidelines and ensure all claims comply with government regulations and standards.

Client Development and Service:



Support the development and maintenance of productive relationships with client management. Contribute to delivering quality service and value to clients by assisting with client meetings and correspondence. Assist in understanding client needs and contribute ideas to improve services offered. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including funding agencies, partners, and regulatory bodies. Collaborate with project managers and team leaders to ensure alignment of funded projects with organizational goals.

Seek feedback from mentors and colleagues to enhance performance. Stay informed about general business and economic developments and understand their impact on clients. Participate in professional educational programs to develop technical skills and broaden knowledge.

Education/Certifications



Minimum of a Bachelor's degree program in Technology or Science. Preferred, 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, grant management, and/or securing incentives for businesses.
