What is the opportunity?

Your responsibilities include review and decision of client borrowing requests/transactions within your own authority level, review of financial statements and preparation of spreads for larger requests to be submitted to RCAP VP, GRM or CAG. You will also be responsible for coaching and mentoring junior Credit staff as well as training staff in other departments and working together with other Senior level employees in other departments. Other duties include working a Credit queue and ensuring SLA commitments are met. Responsibilities are to be carried out while ensuring the safety and soundness of RBC funds through strong judgment and analytical skills guided by RCAP/RBC risk policy adherence.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for approval, decline or negotiation of credit applications/transactions within specifically assigned DLA and related accountabilities, ensuring timely delivery of credit decision.
  • Adjudicate credit from various delivery channels (e.g. Vendors, Brokers, Direct Sales etc.) advising partners of decisions.
  • Review transactions and financial information and prepare spreads for larger requests to be submitted to GRM or CAG.
  • Responsible for coaching and mentoring Adjudication Associates/Officers as well as training staff in other departments and working together with other senior level employees in other departments.
  • Negotiate with Senior Vendor/Broker Principals regarding larger transactions and/or programs.
  • Follow standard RCAP/RBC lending policy and procedure guidelines.
  • Act as credit and product specialist and in the normal course of adjudicating files, provide ongoing coaching for sales unit employees and peers to support credit quality and credit-process risks as well as opportunity-spotting for sales. Provide additional mentoring to junior Credit staff in this regard.
  • Work requires not only continual reacting and adapting to change, but also anticipation of upcoming change and preparation for it.
  • Expected to process work volumes as measured through established service level agreements (SLA's).
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly department reports.
  • Senior Role in project/product creation process by way of design input, analysis, feedback, participation in testing, suggestions of potential changes/adjustments, ongoing reporting and monitoring.
  • Follow established Coaching Routines and related activity to drive high performance and enhance client experience.
What do you need to succeed?

Must have:
  • College or University degree.
  • 5-10 years progressive experience within a credit/lending environment.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly-developed financial analysis skills including ratio calculation, interpretation and analysis. Ability to discuss trends and ratios with BDM's and with GRM/CAG contacts as-required.
  • Strong MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint skills.
  • Sound knowledge of the dynamics of small to mid-ticket environment handling many different asset classes.
  • Expertise in the analysis and interpretation of commercial and personal credit reports from various agencies.

  • Decisive with the ability to demonstrate initiative/confidence.
  • Able to set very high standards in terms of being detail-oriented.
  • Bilingual capabilities are an asset.
  • Highly-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exposure to, or ability to quickly learn RBC applications including Synergy, FACT, Sales Platform, CMS etc.
