The Senior Account Payable Manager oversees critical financial functions, including claims payment, accounts payable, and other operational activities. This role encompasses financial reporting, account reconciliation, and the development of accounting principles and procedures to ensure timely and accurate payments and financial reports. The position also involves managing a small team of accountants and ensuring the efficient completion of workflows.

The role requires handling tight deadlines and balancing competing priorities such as payment processing issues, general ledger entries, financial and management reporting, bordereaux generation, month-end close, year-end audits, GL reconciliations, trust accounting, and cash flow management. Close collaboration with the operations team is essential.

In this role, you'll get to experience:



Finance Operations:

Oversee claims payment and accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transactions. Address discrepancies, manage accounts receivable, and streamline financial operations workflows. Analyze monthly financial reports and key metrics, providing actionable insights for management. Develop and monitor cash flow projections related to payments and collections. Maintain strong controls, enhance accounting policies, and ensure accurate month-end and year-end close. Oversee claims treasury operations, including bank account management and bordereaux reconciliation. Support the Controller with audits, generate financial statements, and optimize workflows for efficiency. Complete balance sheet reconciliations and provide financial reporting, including KPI metrics for operations.
Team Leadership:

Supervise and mentor the Accounting team, coordinating with the Controller and CFO. Advise on complex transactions and respond to senior management inquiries. Provide training to staff, establish goals, and monitor professional development. Lead special projects and implement workflow improvements. Foster strong alignment with Operations and Sales teams.

What you bring:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with a CPA designation. At least five years of experience in finance operations or senior accounting roles. Proven leadership experience as an Accounting or Finance Manager. Strong understanding of financial operations, accounting principles, and reporting standards. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Great Plains) and MS Office Suite. High attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:



Experience managing fast-paced payment processes. Expertise in troubleshooting financial systems and recommending process improvements. Familiarity with software system implementation. Prior experience in insurance, brokerage, or managing general agencies.
