Location: Mississauga, ON (5 days in office)
Compensation: Up to $110,000 + excellent benefits
My client, a well-established and rapidly growing public accounting firm, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager / Senior Accountant (CPA) to join their Mississauga office. The firm is expanding nationally with three offices across Canada and additional locations opening soon. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional who thrives in a dynamic public practice environment and is ready to take on leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate must bring strong technical expertise in assurance and taxation, proven Canadian public accounting experience, and the ability to manage both engagements and people at a senior level.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage audit, review, and compilation engagements from planning to final sign-off.
Prepare and review year-end financial statements and working papers in accordance with CPA Canada standards.
Oversee and review corporate, personal, trust, partnership, and other Canadian tax filings.
Provide final review and approval of audit and review files, ensuring compliance with professional and firm standards.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff and senior accountants, providing ongoing training and development.
Manage workflow, deadlines, and staff assignments to ensure client deliverables are met.
Meet with clients to discuss year-end results, resolve issues, and provide advisory support.
Assist clients with accounting systems, processes, and software, offering professional guidance where needed.
Support the firm's growth through participation in internal initiatives, quality improvement, and team leadership.
Qualifications
CPA designation required (must be fully qualified in Canada).
Minimum 5 years of recent Canadian public accounting firm experience.
Experience managing staff accountants and/or seniors on audit and review engagements.
Strong technical knowledge of ASPE, CAS, and Canadian tax rules.
Ability to sign off on audit and review engagements (or be eligible to).
Proven experience preparing and reviewing full tax cycles for corporations, individuals, trusts, and information returns.
Advanced proficiency with public practice software such as CaseWare, TaxPrep/ProFile, QuickBooks, iFirm, and Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
