The Opportun i ty:


Under Sunwing Vacations, we are looking for a Senior Accountant to join us in making vacation dreams come true. As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager with finance functions and producing monthly and annual financial statement in a timely manner. The position reports to the Sr. Manager, Finance (Tours & Retail) and will be located in Toronto, ON. Apply now and have your career soar to new heights - under our wing!


What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:


  • Guide team members to ensure alignment with company policies and
    procedures
  • Keep team members motivated and engaged to be efficient and effective
  • Maintain the Chart of Accounts along with General ledger and prepare reconciliation of balance sheet account management review
  • Manage internal controls to ensure streamlined process for improved efficiency, productivity, decrease redundances, and improve accuracy by adding control checks
  • Accurately accrues for all invoices received but not processed by deadline at period end
  • Ensure compliance to company policies and procedures
  • Responding to stakeholder queries via e mail and phone calls including escalations and stakeholder payment concerns
  • Assist with government and regulatory reporting on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Continue your assistance to Manager- Finance/Finance Director, to ensure the month end activities and audit queries are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare management financial statements package with financial and non-financial data for review of monthly performance of the operations
  • Review and prepare analysis of costs by categories such as payroll, marketing cost and general and administration costs. Compare to budget and prior year to explain the variance
  • Prepare working papers for Quarterly reporting and annual financial audit and assist with internal and external audit queries in a timely manner
  • Maintain capital assets continuity schedule and prepare monthly amortization journal entries
  • Prepare monthly QST/HST reports
  • Prepare monthly Balance sheets reconciliations

Other duties as assigned


What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:

  • At least one (1) year of work-related experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, working towards an accounting designation
  • Excellent computer skills & MS office along with experience in accounting packages
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Knowledge of Microsoft GP an asset
  • Team player and have ability to work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills both in oral and written form
  • Demonstrate sound work ethics complimented with flexible work attitude
  • Achievement oriented; must be able to juggle multiple tasks, tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable when dealing with change
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a fast paced environment
