About the Opportunity

We have partnered with our valued client to help them find a new Senior Accountant. This software/technology company is located in the NE quadrant of Calgary. They offer a hybrid remote-work setup, with flexibility to choose which days are spent in-office once familiarity with their products and their real-world use has been developed.

Ideally, they are looking for a recently designated accountant, who has come from a public practice, to support accurate and timely monthly/quarterly financial reporting, preparation of related monthly reconciliations, disclosure templates, and working papers.
Reporting to a bright, competent, likable and personable Controller, this position does offer succession planning to Assistant Controller in time, for the right individual.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Analyze and reconcile of the month end and year end processes, including the preparation of month end and year end journal entries, account analysis, adjustments, and reconciliations
  • Completion of month end reports including the reconciliation of all corporate accounts
  • Assemble, review, and analyze the financial statements for each entity including consolidated financial statements at each month end, quarter end, and year end
  • Review and analyze the month end consolidated financial statements and make note of any odd occurrences during the month or reasons for large variances from prior month numbers
  • Analyze and reconciled trade and intercompany accounts receivable and payables accounts for all companies to ensure all invoices have been processed correctly
  • Compile, review, and analyze the weekly cash forecast and provide recommendations of any funds transfer or loan acquirements if necessary
  • Assisted in reviewing, analyzing, and completing the budget for the finance department
  • Maintained excel models in order to support accounting, reporting, and other regulatory processes
  • Compile, review, and analyze the weekly orders received report (weekly revenue actual and forecast report)
  • Review and process monthly, quarterly, yearly, journal entries for various cost and accounts
  • Preparation and filing of all related tax accounts, such as GST/PST/HST and USA taxes
  • Reconciling bank statements and maintaining the general ledger
  • Confirm intercompany and balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, investigate and adjust variances as needed
  • Prepared and analyzed monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports for each company
  • Assist with completing year-end reviews and audits
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly and year-end close processes with accounts payable and receivable
  • Maintained and correlated with staff to ensure all financial information has been properly inputted into the account system and in a timely manner
  • Ensure each department has provided information within deadlines to ensure financial reports are complete and accurate
  • Investigate and reconcile accounts with large discrepancies
  • Complete special projects and ad hoc analysis as required

About the Job
  • Ideally targeting base salary in the $80,000 - $85,000+ per annum range depending on relevant experience etc.
