Work Description

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this hands-on role is responsible for the full cycle accounting process for corporate shared services within the Group, in addition to month-end financial reporting and analysis. This hands-on role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities:

Senior Accountant

  • Responsible for the full-cycle accounting of TCG Services
  • Maintain daily and monthly accounting functions up to the point of trial balance
  • Stamp, match, code, verify and post various invoices, and maintain accurate records in accordance with company practices and policies
  • Maintain the capital assets ledger and process monthly transactions to record amortization
  • Prepare monthly bank, credit card and HST reconciliations
  • Process invoices, cheques and cheque requisitions in accordance with deadlines and policies
  • Maintain and reconcile accounts payable supplier files prior to cheque preparation, liaise with suppliers regarding outstanding invoices and payments, and identify and report issues to the Director of Finance
  • Process billing and collection transactions and reporting activities according to deadlines and policies for Accounts Receivable
  • Prepare working papers of the month-end file, ensuring sub-ledgers are in balance, and other balances are properly reconciled/analyzed and supported by backup as appropriate
  • Review budget to actual reports and provide variance analyses for review
  • Assist with the year-end file preparation, and the preparation of budget files, forecasts, and cash-flow forecasting
  • With respect to the above duties, ensure established process and policy is adhered to, reporting any discrepancies to the Director of Finance
  • Support TCG Services operational requests by providing financial information to the departmental teams upon request
  • Support the Director of Finance with identifying and testing all system changes and inquires along with the Continuous Improvement team
  • Perform related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, and photocopying/scanning
  • Other duties as required
Statement of Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • A minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 relevant and progressive work experience
  • Post-Secondary Education in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Strong ability to critically analyze and problem solve
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks and priorities at a time
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Highly proficient use of various software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe
  • Experience using an ERP system is considered an asset
  • Experience in a multi-company environment and/or shared services would be an asset
Physical/Sensory Effort/Work Environment
  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines
  • Sitting or Standing for long periods of time at workstation
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Repetitive work.
  • Overtime may be required
