We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our office in Burnaby, BC or Nisku, AB.

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller or Interim Assistant Controller and is an integral part of the Corporate Finance team responsible for assisting with day-to-day finance and accounting activities, regulatory compliance, financial month-end close, year-end audit, and preparation of the internal and external financial and management reporting. Responsibilities:

The role of the Senior Accountant may be summarized as follows:

• Assist with daily accounting transactions in a multi-entity setting including preparation of journal entries, maintaining fixed assets records and lease contract register, processing inter-company transactions, and bank reconciliations
• Assist with preparation of regulatory compliance and remittances with respect to payroll and indirect taxes
• Assist with month-end and annual financial close
• Maintain supporting schedules for financial reporting in accordance with IFRS
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial reporting packages, quarterly Joint Venture financial statements, and annual audited IFRS consolidated financial statements, schedules, disclosure notes, and internal management reports
• Assist with execution and documentation of internal controls over financing reporting processes

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Professional accounting designation (CPA) or CPA students
• 5+ years full cycle accounting experience
• An understanding of the principles and application of financial, management and statutory reporting in a multi-company setting
• Extensive knowledge of full-cycle accounting for all major business processes including sales/billing, procurement-to-pay, payroll, materials/inventory management, fixed asset management, banking, and period-end adjusting entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, month end
• Working knowledge of the principles and application of IFRS and ASPE would be a definite asset
• Solid understanding of Canadian business regulatory compliance
• Strong IT literacy, particularly in MS Excel
• Extensive working knowledge of ERP systems
• Strong aptitude to learn and a team player
• Able to manage time, prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
• Able to communicate effectively, including both written and in-person
