We are looking for a Sr. Accountant - Financial Reporting to join us in the exciting work we do in Energy and Infrastructure. You will work with centralized accounting teams. It\'ll be your responsibility to prepare and distribute monthly financial reports for senior management. In this position, you also get to review quarterly and annual internal and external reporting and prepare key reports including consolidated project update

What Else You Get To Do:

Reporting & Consolidation

Responsible for and assist with the preparation of financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Key activities include:

  • Preparation of consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual reports including explaining variances between actual, business plan, forecasts and prior periods as required by management.
  • Work with the Executive team and provide key project updates.
  • Working closely with international and domestic teams to provide quality control and understand the key drivers of the financials while explaining variances as well as auditors.
  • Collaborating closely with the Corporate consolidation and investor relations group to assist with the preparation of external reporting: MD&A, AIF, Financial statements.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc analysis and special projects.
Accounting & Financial

Responsible for performing day-to-day accounting functions providing on SG&A cost centers. Key activities include:
  • Month end journal entries and accruals; recurring and ad hoc reconciliations.
  • Monthly meetings with management and individual cost center owners.
  • Periodic payroll analysis
  • Prepare or assist with budgets and financial forecasts.
Process Improvements/Efficiencies/Strategic System Use

Focuses on process improvements/efficiencies while upholding data integrity and output accuracy for the entire company, including:
  • Supporting modernization of data collection, analysis, and automation of processes
  • Understanding and promoting best use of financial systems for data and financial analysis
  • Integrated problem solving and efficient processes related to financial accounting and reporting
  • Applying knowledge, initiative and strong interpersonal skills to:
  • Provide quality reports and deliverables
  • Prepare insightful analysis to cross-functional teams
  • Support junior members of the accounting team
  • Communicates accounting policies, procedures and practices to non-financial personnel
Who You Are:
  • Minimum Undergraduate degree
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required
  • Typically a minimum 3 years of experience post-designation
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills and produces accurate, high quality work
  • Works independently with minimal supervision applying good judgment and strong decision making
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate complex accounting processes
  • Intermediate to Advanced Oracle and Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, graphs, ad-hoc reporting etc.)
  • Highly motivated to learn and takes initiative to advance business knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills considered an asset
